Nav system

my 8 will be here shortly and i am considering getting a gps. i have been looking at some aftermarket models but i have only seen the tacky ones that mount to the window via suction cup. is there a dealear out here i can order/ nstall one from?

once you get the 8, it will be very difficult and expensive to install the Mazda unit. I'd look into something like a carputer.
There's a few people state side that have them, look for threads by RotaryRasp or Mazdamaniac.

As 'tacky' as mounting on the windshield may be, you can get four very nice GPS units for the price of one dealer installed. Plus they'll be availed of much newer technology. Plus it's transportable to other cars. I take mine wherever I travel.

Garmin 550 for me, but if buying today their Nuvi 4" diagonal. I also like the hands free cell afforded by the bluetooth linkage (not offered on the dealer unit).

Personally I use the TomTom 910 in my 8 with the speed camera option.

so what price ranges are these units in, im looking to spend no more than 600, but less is always better. i guess i just want something basic and easy to use. speed camera warning is always a plus lol

I bought mine at the Px for $500 and the speed camera option was $50 a year. It also has the maps for US and Europe preloaded and you can update it too.

But from checking there site they have the new 920 out and it starts at $549.

tomtom 920 ftw, get it on ebay for $430.
