Revival, again..

I guess the lubrication is not the main concern, as this can easily be fixed by converting the OMP to run 2 stroke oil and eventually increasing the OMP output in the mapping. by the time the gasoline is in the chamber it is gas (as in evaporeted) anyways, making no difference to the lpg. the advantage of the LPG is that it will be more homogenous, while the disadvantage is that unless its liquid injected, does't take latent heat out of the charge.

So my bet would be to use a cheap lpg injection, convert OMP to work with 2 stroke oil and definatly add water injection when running boosted apllication to keep EGT sub 900degC. if you run higher EGT's for extended time the springs of the side seals passing the side exh port will weaken, causing the all known rx8 problems.

big advantage for LPG in a charged apllication is that it has a much higher resistance to knocking, so enabling lambda around 1 under moderate boost (huge efficency benefit to gasoline, which needs to be ran at 11-12:1 afr to avoid detonation). the latent heat disadvantage can easily be solved with water injection.

I add lubrication in my car becose I dont have 3 injectros of oil ( when my car run at petrol I add extra oil in fuel)

I'm thinking about changing the OMP but I don't know ehere to buy this...

the cheap instalation is cost about 750 euro... but you know it is a V6 instalation...

I love how most of you guys bought an RX8 then complained about its fuel efficiency

brb smashing head into wall

if you cant afford to run it, maybe it isnt the car for you................

my favourite part was were bse50 pulled lpg wankels apart and told you his findings only to have a bunch of self proclaimed experts who have never seen the inside of a rotary argue with him

I looked at an LPG conversion on an RX8 after I had one on my Range Rover, for the price and increased engine wear I reckon it's cheaper to run a second car, also who buys a car which the manufacturer has spent many millions on getting 50:50 weight distribution only to ruin that by whacking 70kg of pressure vessel in the back?

Actually this just means that you need to put a S256 and large FMIC and water injection in the front to balance things out =)

Depends, if you have liquid LPG injection there will be no negative effect, and if used in charged apllication, the increased octane will enable running near lambda one for longer, making the engine much more efficient when runnign under boost when comapred to running gasoline at lambda <<1.

offcourse the lubrication will be a chalange, and EGT's, especially on a renesis, water injection will be mandatory

what about these guys from UK ( http://www.egasuk.com/rx8.html ) look what they say:

"although all the LPG components appear to be standard, there are some real differences we'd like to keep to ourselves for now"

anyone know someone with a kit for these EGASUK guys ?

Approximately month ago I did an lpg conversion on my rx8 myself and it is running with no problems!
It really isn't that hard as it seems at the first glance! It was a first conversion that I have done and I was able to do it without any special equipment (except for a lpg computer configuration cable that I got from ebay)!
I used some basic tools and a garage with a car lifter!
The kit that I installed was a used BRC fly sf system!
If somebody is interested in it more then I can try to answer your questions and give a couple of suggestions!
Total cost of a system was around 500$!

Someone who wacks a 200kg 20b under the hood and needs to re-balance the car with an lpg tank. hehe

I'm very interested!! as i am about to perform a 20b conversion and probably the only way to legally drive it on the road is to convert to LPG.

Could u PM me with kits and advice u have with regards to this?
Also are u running dual or straight lpg?

Also did u use a injection system or an older positive feed?

in romania disel and petrol has the same price 1.5 euro per litre...and lpg is60-70 eurocenti per litre...that way many cars are running on lpg...even cayenne porsches.
i hope that lpg will work fine on rx8.
rx8 hydrogen how is it working?
in romania a guy invent a lpg instalation for disel engines...and for petro engines has invented a simple hidrogen instalation wich reduces the consume with 30%...the car was running with petrol...and water
Well said. I break the damn things at 50,000km too. One of the main probs for a lot of peeps (not me) is carbon build up, not driving hard enuff, i bet lpg won't create a carbon build for those drivers. And it's prob those drivers who need LPG the most too.

You must see, at my average of 25000 km per year, I've calculated a 1500 - 2000 EURO difference in consumption with my current car. So, a LPG installation would mean a payback of approx. 1 year!

Many Thanks for your replies,

And? Is it running on LPG yet? I did such a conversion and the difficulty is that this needs 2 injectors per chamber, I thought it has three, so 6 injectors. One low RPM injector and one high RPM injector. This was the case with a RX7 and if I'm right the RX8 has the same 6 injectors set up. Further nothing really difficult.
