Good News Or False Hope?

Dealer called to say that the car in Bristol might not be the blue pre-production car but a production European LHD.

Let's hope so. I'm not getting my hopes up at this stage.

Cheers

That would be a result!

Ive already seen the blue car, but seeing a production car would allow us to see the final fit/finish/quality etc.

Shame mine's not until the 24th.

Keep us posted Oilman.

It will be interesting to see what the production fit and finish will be like. All the media reports have remarked on how much car you get for so little money. Lets face it, there is nothing in the market that can offer what the RX8 offers for £22K. Lets hope that they haven't skimped on quality in favour of looks, performance and design, and weight, and handling, and interior spec....get where I'm going?

When I spoke to my dealer earlier today he mentioned that one of their former members of staff now worked for Mazda UK and was responsible for carrying out the Pre Delivery Inspections on the press cars. He also mentioned that this person had driven one of the cars and it had seemed to him quicker than the last RX7 twin turbo model.

If at least one of the cars are in this country then there may be some hope that it will be the car at the preview event.

I think I am the first one of us to go to the events (7th July) so I will let you know what happens. My dealers slot is 7:30 till 8:30 so I should be able to report back by 10 at the latest.

Although it hasn't been confirmed yet via an official invite I am going to Henley on the 15th to have the champagne preview

I specifically asked my dealer if the cars there would be full production and he confirmed after a call to mazda that they would be, I say they because at some of the events there will be more than one car
I also have it on good authority that a trailer of 8's was spotted in Kent, the assumption being that they could have come accross on the tunnel ahead of the press launch and "customer evenings" that we are going to. Not sure if they are RHD but they are European spec.

I'm off to my preview this weekend in Newcastle, Saturday afternoon, 1pm, for the champagne reception. Well, i got all of 4 days notice, and i'm supposed to be enduring a stag weekend in Middlesborogh, but it's only up the road! i'll do my best.

My dealer said it'd be the blue pre-pro car, but confirmed that at least one other car was in the country now for the press to fettle.

Going to be make or break for me, i'm pretty pissed about the wait until Christmas for my 5 speed, i need a very good feeling to keep me holding on!

Still no invite here. Irrelevant though, the only RX-8 I want to see now is my own.

I certainly hope that it's not going to be the blue car, i'm particularly keen to see the quality of finish with the leather spec in a production car.

Hell, by august (my viewing) how hard can it be to get another car into the uk

I had my preview yesterday in Newcastle, and i can confirm that I'm definately going to wait for this baby, it's a real Bobby dazzler!

It was the blue car, but you guys may well get to see some others. I was told there are now 20 cars in the UK, being prepped for the press and for the dealers to familiarise themselves. I have been told i can probably arrange to go with my dealer to Manchester in August to see the different colours and final finish.

They had a couple of glass display cabinets with all the accessories available at launch. The accessory prices are very expensive. You need to spend the best part of 200notes to get anything, even those strakes!

I got another 'pack' with some more information, just general questions and answers, nothing that we didn't already know. It did confirm that our ride height will be a couple of inches lower.

The UK cars will have a storage compartment in the place of the Sat Nav for those who don't order this option.
