Have you all got poxy dial up?
Remember, I'm serving this over my DSL line out of the goodness of my heart... ;-) hence I asked for mirrors... I limit it to 4 users because otherwise lots of users would give up after spending HOURS downloading... at least this way anyone who does get on gets at least 64K of bandwidth...

Thank got for Linux' traffic control, at least I can define the TOS as "Bulk" and it doesn't make anything else slow!!

And it's VERY much appreciated.

93%...

EDIT: 100%!
Well it was worth waiting for. The hi-res version is near broadcast quality and it's a better feature than I'd expected. Ms Newman's dress was kind of appropriate: sexy at the front but open to opinion at the back just like the RX-8 . It was worth the wait just to see the Renesis model turning over and obviously the car was highly regarded. The Euro-spec images posted earlier today must have been taken in the same area because the light aircraft featured in both sets. Thanks BlueAdept: this wasn't transmitted in my area so you provided the only opportunity for me to see it and I'm grateful. Technology eh? Marvellous!

Just watched the video on my return from my hols. WHAT A HOOT!!! M.Newman has zero street cred and does not have a clue about cars. We're just lucky she didn't mention Formula Women.

I'm hoping Driven will be putting a decent driver in the driving seat.

Back to the subject.

Just watched the recording (again for the 4th time) and noticed that when Michelle keeps going on about the revs, and then they show the rev counter, the wording MPH (or KPH) has been digitally blanked out from under the digital speedo! I can just make out the black blank cover infringing on the number 5 as the speed climbs into the 50s. Odd that.

You're dead right and I didn't notice it first time around. That's a German Kmh car and they've altered it to make the viewers assume it was an Mph car. Naughty! The car isn't as fast it appears in the video then.

We know it does 68mph at rev limiter in 2nd, so why are we having such a hard time believing it was in MPH?

68kmh is about 42 mph, thats just over redline in 1st....

I'm not bothered by it, don't get me wrong but why else would they have deliberately digitally removed the metering indicator (which I guarantee they have, I can see the mask slipping at one point) if it wasn't to obscure KMh? That WAS a German car and it was set up for use by European journalists. Unless someone on the day knew that the indicator could easily be switched to MPH then they would certainly have been running with KMH. It's not a big deal.

I read over on this thread that it is a simple switch to change it from KPH to MPH so it is highly likely that the car was driven showing MPH - it matches the performance figures we understand the car to have a lot more closely than if it was KPH. It doesn't make much sense them hiding the wording either way though - strange!

Actually the thread I have linked to makes me wonder if we are getting our cars 6 months to early. There seem to be quite a few possible v1 gremlins.

My wifes' Yaris can switch to KPH from MPH with just one push on a button.

Yes, but if noone pointed out to the 'Pulling Power' crew that it COULD be changed by pushing the button then they wouldn't have known.

Yes, they wouldnt have known, but I expect UK Journo's to get basics like kmh/mph correct before going in the motor (eveen daft bints like her).

And (I hate repeating myself) but we know what the car does at redline in 2nd its 68mph. She was going > 60+ on the speedo in 2nd aproaching 9k.

In KMH that would be roughly 40mph - way to low for that gear/rev - I cant see how that fits.

Additional ftp server

OK for anyone who hasnt been able to download this vid, I am making my ftp server available for a short while on my broadband connection.

It is limited to 4 users to get decent download speeds:

There are 3 versions (low, med, high) res in the root directory, as well as most of the Best Motoring Vids etc.

ftp to cameras.hillfield.net (82.36.188.144)

I still have it shared on emule but I have 5000 people in the queue so it may take a while to get on. I have set it to high priority. Click on the ed2k link above or do a search for pulling power - or just try one of the ftp sites posted earlier in this thread.

Dear All,

i have a feeling that this episode of Pulling Power will be shown on Sky this Sunday afternoon, at 1.30 i think. It's on Men & Motors (139).

Last weeks episode included the first part of the GumBall review, i think that the second part is on the same show as the 8?

Someone correct me if i'm mistaken!

Thanks.
