Have seen through local dealer that everyone who registered their details with mazda, and go to the point of pre order where they are asked for credit card details have an EP number. This is true wheter they actually pre ordered or not. The dealer can see all of the information regarding the lead, contact the prospect and finish the pre order if they make a sale.

EP is basically sequential as to the number of 'serious' enquiries, not orders. It means nothing in regar delivery etc...

For the registry - my EP is a 1x and I know two owners of numbers lower than mine.

However waiting for a confirmed delivery date and if its much past Sept 1st - I'm definitely gone - I can always buy one next year.

But Still love that RX - the 300 that is bext 4x4 I've driven and so may still bail.

First it was July/ August, then it was the start of September, now it seems that we will be wating until the end of September / October.

The concept of "Mazda Time" seems to not only affect the release of information but the release of the vehicles as well.

But it does explain why none of us have had 'the letter' that we were expecting in last week of May to give the delivery date for our cars...

The other possibility , going on the history of Mazda dealers knowing considerably less than those on this forum when it comes to RX8 info , is that the dealer that quoted this is guessing - or err-ing on the side of caution. I find it hard to believe that Mazda have told 1 guy in 1 dealer this gem of information and forgotten to tell customers , other dealers etc.

Sorry guys but thats why Sarinda took a while to get back to me. He spoke to the "UK Sales Manager" for RX8s in their head office about the whole thing to verify what he had told me about the cars being supplier in dealer order rather than EP number - I think it was cos I told him it was going on the forum that many people in my situation are reading.

Unbelievable - If someone can second-confirm an end of September date I'm off to the nearest Lexus dealership and if Mazda are reading - one name - J D Powers. I will expect a full refund of the £1000 seeing as I was originally quoted 'by August at the outside')

Black Knight, couldn't agree more. I spoke to my dealer on Monday (Brooklyn are you listening ?), to find that they do not get thier demonstrators until September. I did explain to him that if its any later, I will be cancelling my order.

Why are you listing a pre-order date and an order date - or should I ask why there's a difference for some of you? Is it when you actually signed an order form with the dealer? I'm just a bit confused as all I've ever done is pre-order through the website.

because I ordered with Dealer in Jan - and got a Mazda generic order form , and he took my deposit etc...

The actual RX8 registration was not until the 28th Feb , hence all the fuss about EP numbers which are allocated in the order that your dealer actually logged onto the system to place the order on that day (i.e. the first day of registration).

I was lucky , dealer stayed into the evening to input , others were not so lucky.
Key question of course , is allocation order in EP order..... ???
Some think yes , some think no. No-one knows for sure....
