Talking AT LAST!!!

Guess What?

The Oilman now has EP365.

RX8 High Power
Velocity Red / Red-Black Leather

Some News:

My Dealers Sign in and Password issued by Mazda did not work as Mazda did not recognise their Dealership!!

Eventually sorted but what a shambles.

My Dealer also said that the Order process requires them to put in the original date ordered (in my case mid January) which is relevant in so far as the original order and deposit date is the actual contract date!

What relevance and relation this has to EP numbers, time will tell but some clarification from Mazda may be necessary.

I'm also awaiting clarification on my entry to the trip to Japan.

Anyway it's EP365

:D :D

Yeah, finally got mine today! :D

I got EP213.

What do these numbers represent? Is it build order or delivery order?

Congrats to all EP'd up members.

They are probably just unique reference codes, I don't think they are tied to pre-order date, because i know both Oilman and I had our deposits in very early but have high EP numbers.

I would hope they produce cars on the basis of first come first serverd, so they are probably just unique reference numbers generated automaticaly in sequence by the website.

Second Saturday in January.

Does that support my thoughts or am I quite late in the pe order stakes?

When did everyone else put their deposit down?

I pre-ordered 25th Jan.

Well I think that shows the numbers as not order dates.

Still, it would be good to hear from one of the guys with the low numbers, just to confirm.

I ordered around Feb 1. Im pretty sure the EP number was just allocated as orders went into the Mazda system.

Im the 47th order to be entered (EP47). I think they entered the pre-order date as well so dont worry you are still in front of me.

Im hopefull well all get the first batch at the same time anyway.

Wow, I don't know, have a couple of days off the net and there's millions of threads and the bloody forum changes colour. Good job I've ordered an RX 8 or I'd be gutted.

EP 252 for the Tinck machine.

and for the record ordered 13th January, so don't know what it all means.

Something to remember though is that there are press cars and dealers demo's that will need to be ordered, with over 100 dealers, there may not be many other Joe public orders.

The other thing I was thinking about , whilst trying to get some sleep, was, if you love and want the car so much, what do you do.??

You scrounge the net for as much information as possible and ultimately end up on this forum.

I'm not sure there are that many other pre-orderers out there you know. People don't like to take risks and buying a car before you've seen it is a risk. Add the Mazda name and the rotary engine with us Brits and for some its not worth taking. Remember Brtis like their named cars, Audi BMW and Mecs. Its all status for some.

Basically, you're left with Mazda's target group as posted by oilman.

US!!!

The EP Numbers may be regional (just a thought).

My dealer reckons that the 1st batch will be sold within weeks and as they will match buyers to cars, some may have to wait longer than others as production numbers (colours) will have already been decided.

Lets hope he's talking out of his exhaust pipe.

Cheers

Anybody worked out how these EP numbers were allocated because I would be very surprised if my dealer was that on the ball sufficiently to get me into 21st place. However, I cannot imagine the allocation being made any other than first come first served.

Region allocation would not work as Mazda would have no idea who would be ordering where.

rael.

Just on the phone to lady at rx8 helpline as she called me. I asked her how many orders in total so far.

She said 44 pages of orders with 10 cars per page so a total of around 450 cars.

Not bad for a car that has not even been built yet!

The quota for this year is 3300 cars and then up to 6600 next year. I reckon that the numbers will reach 1000 by June (Especially when we see Formula Woman hit the screens) and then orders will rocket once we receive ours and people see them on the roads.

This car is going to be a real headturner and it won't be long before demand will outstrip supply. This will either lead to a higher used value due to waiting lists or just keeping the residuals high.

Top sitiuation to be in as a new car owner. Who knows some of us may just have a few months of free motoring before joining the queue again for a nordic blue number :D

Interesting info.

3300 cars seems quite a lot in the first year, I cant see them taking pre-orders for that many.

Does this mean that once all the pre-orders are fulfilled the waiting lists wont be very long?

I was kinda hoping for higher demand and lower supply to keep the residuals up.

In contrast, I read that there are only 450 Nissan 350Z's coming into the UK this year.

Yes Mark only 450 350z's but I don't see what you mean.

Bear in mind that this is a car which EVERYONE will want once they see it on the road.

10,000 cars in total over 2 years is very little and Mazda wanted to keep the numbers low to keep the residuals as high as possible.

How many TT's are there? :D
