Is it my imagination, or is there condensation in the top of the headlights?

Looks like rain to me - if you look closely, the rest of the car seems to have a coat of drizzle.

mikegwyer the solution to your problems is not to buy a car before its in full production and shipping. If you want a smooth purchase wait for pre-order back log to clear and buy without the delays.

If on the other hand you want the first vehicles to arrive in the UK, you have to expect production delays and confusion over shipping in the dealer network.

Cheers

I would agree that ordering a new car puts you at the mercy of Production delays.

I'm not sure I agree that you have to accept "confusion over shipping in the dealer network" just because the car is a new model such as the RX-8. The car will have sat next to a 323 on the boat, gone through customs next to the 323, sat on the truck next to the 323 but we're all supposed to make allowances for them not knowing where the RX is because it's a new model. Would it also be unreasonable expecting them to know where my 323 is if I'd ordered one of them ?

Yes, but there are thousands of 323s floating around the supply chain, most of them are generic stock not ordered to an exact spec. They have much more flexibility to direct them to where they are selling.

With the RX8, they have to get what is probably 6 months of a normal years production out to the dealers in a matter of a few weeks, all of which have been ordered to an exact spec. It is a bit of a logistical nightmare.

However Mazda UK could do a lot better job of letting the dealers know what is happening. They seem to be relying on the computer system to find out, but without all the information such as the dates seem to be set too far in advance until the boat docks, and then are brought down as they pass through customs.

Cheers

Yes, I think this is the bit I've found most frustrating - that a vast multinational corporation appears incapable of keeping 1000 customer order records in a database accurate and up to date and available via the web to pre-order customers.

I got the impression the US pre-order program went a whole lot better - not perfect, but a whole lot better.

Anyway, just to prove how fickle customers can be, I will now stop whinging, keep counting down the hours till Wednesday afternoon and then start singing the praises of what I hope will prove to be the most enjoyable car I've ever owned

Mike.

I totally agree.
And the fact that they can't seem to get on to their computer system at the weekends (certainly Sun), despite the fact that most dealerships seem to be open on both Sat and Sun is pathetic!
