It's very important to tell us when you ordered your car. If it was before August then this is not good. Also: High or standard power engine please?

I ordered my car, Titanium LP with options, in March 2003

It's OK Eric, those dates match what we have been told about the delivery of the Low Power cars here.

High power only will be arriving in November, with Lo Power cars arriving in December and January.

Given the current state - I think that any date is give or take a month

Who knows?

I've phoned the dealer AND my mazda garage, I must have got 4 different stories in the space of 5min.

We know the cars are arriving via numerous ships, and the bulk of the (preorder)cars will be inthe country by the end of october.

Dealers will be picking their cars (1demo, 1 showroom?) 27th Oct at silverstone.

I assume our cars will arrive after that at the dealers. probably the end of oct/first week or two of november.

It takes roughly a day for an engineer to prep the 8 for hand over, so when we get will depend on size of dealer, no of cars etc.

2nd or 3rd week in Nov I hope, would love earlier as I have 2 weekends away at end of oct/nov, would be nice to have for then.

Just got off the phone to my dealer and have the following information to impart.

The cars will be visible on the dealers computers on the 10th or 11th October. With chassis numbers etc, so accessories can then be ordered and allocated to the cars.

One person have been told by Mazda (I don't know if this is at their dealer or generally) that their car will be delivered on the 8th November.

All of the first 1000 cars (presumably excluding non launch colours and Low Powers) will be delivered in November.

Thats all for now.

Chris,

This follows with the info I received yesterday.I think the only reason I gort a verbal delivery time is because i pushed a key person at Mazda to find out for me.As mine is due to reach the dealer w/c 10th Nov the info you got sounds right.

Latest update..

Received an email from Mazda today stating the following:

a letter will be going out this week advising that the dealers systems are now having cars showing up with dates in the system - however they will not all show up at once and will take a week or so to complete as it will happen gradually.

Your dealer should be able to see a date in the system in due course (your's may already be there) and this should reflect delivery into the dealership.
However please bear in mind a pre-delivery inspection will need to take place and may mean that the car won't be available on that precise date.

I spoke to my dealer who has checked and confirmed that they should be seeing dates for cars later this week and have promised me a call as soon as they know.

Cheers

Mark

1. So the fabled letters from Mazda weren't giving us a delivery date after all: they were just telling us that given time the dealer will give us a delivery date (which is very approximate as the port inspection hasn't been factored in...) hmmm.

2. I didn't know that one can have the English flag on a number plate. Nice.

As long as I get a date soon (and its early Nov) Im happy

You can have what you like on your plate, depending on where you get them from.

I prefer the St Georges cross to the Union Jack any day.

I'd like it too but it would be the easiest was of ensuring that my car would be keyed or torched here in Wales!!

If/when I get a private plate it'll be the bare legal minimum width as described by DVLA.

11mil margin, 50mil for letters, 11mil gaps, 33mil gap between groups.

For "R6 TRY" works out to 338mil instead of the normal 520mil.

Just on the front mind...

Any thoughts about the low power delivery date? I know that we have been told December, but remembering it's holiday season i'm more than a little concerened that i won't have my car by Christmas day!

Does anyone know when the second ship should be departing/arriving?

I know that i can't handle any more bad news

There is NO second /first ship. The cars will/are be coming on multiple ships, which travel Japan/UK/Europe all the time , with mixed payloads. Means there will be a steady stream of RX-8's instead of 2 or so huge deliveries.

Were still on track for delivery of Hi-power in november. Probably 2nd week onwards. So far this hasnt changed for ages. So I guess theres no change in lo-power delivery schedule either.

Thanks Rob,

I can feel my inner calm returning............:p

Yesterday i had a sit in a new A3, apart from the mpg being better, every other facet of that car was inferior to the 8. Made me glad i'd endured the wait!

Just spoke to my dealer -

They are expecting the cars to start showing on the computer this week with VIN numbers and expected week of delivery to the showroom.

They have assured me that as soon as that Tit-gray-high-power-cloth hits their computer , they will call me and let me know.

So - Hopefully by the end of the week.......

(nervous) - Good luck guys !

Morgan.

I too spoke to me dealer in Leeds today.

November 14th is a possible date. - Some cars are appearing - they get them on the 29th ??!! and may take 3-4 days to prep.

I then say 14th cos mine hasn't appeared yet!

Dealership takes delivery of vehicle on the 16th November with me getting it a week later

Im the 3rd order on there books so i would suspect that everyone will be in or around that date who ordered eons ago.

Is your dealer sure that the 16th is the delivery date to them as mine is convinced that this is the date that the cars will arrive in port in the UK. Looking at the evidence of how many people have had the 16th as the date I think it makes more sense that a big shipment is arriving from Rotterdam at that date.

You then have to factor in the time to get them all on a transporter and PDI'd. I would have expected to see some slight variation in dates if the cars were arriving in the UK earlier than that date because I find it unlikely that all of the car transporters will be loaded and on the road to all arrive on the same day at various locations around the country. I find it even more unlikely that Mazda have done the logisitcs of this exercise to give the dealers a specific date for arrival at the dealership rather than in the country - I just about give them credit for the ability to predict when a couple of ships are arriving from Holland!

If it helps, my car was built on the 29th of Sept, and will arrive 05/12/2003, I am not sure if that is to port or the UK.

We seem to have ended up with 2 sticky threads on delivery dates.

So I tossed a coin and the other thread won. This one is going to be closed.
