And you can strike Michael Davey off the list of epople to speak to - he no longer replies to emails or phone calls. Last thing he told me was that I would DEFINATELY get my car in Spetember....

The letter showing our delivery month that I recieved dated late August, stated that 900+ cars had already left bound for the UK.

Therefore, the boat left during August and has 900+ cars on it. That's good enough for me as I will be in that 900.

I can understand for people who ordered later and might not be in the 900 then this is not much use, but then again they havent all been waiting since January or earlier.

For info, I have asked if they can give us any shipping details, but I wouldnt really expect this to be public information and as yet have had no reply.

Cheers
Mark

thanks for clearing that up mark.

as for rumor control, good idea, but in a perfect world mazda would keep their dealers fully up to speed, in which case we wouldn't be having these discussions in the first place.

ah, if only for that perfect world.

(I seem to remember them accusing the forum members of generating these false rumors, well now that it's happened to me it's clearly a problem in their own house. I'll accept a charge of fueling 'rumors' but that's their lot.)

All Mazda shipping deliveries land at Sheerness, Kent, they have their own vehicle processing centre there at a place called Neat's Court.

Wondered where you had got to....

Yep - we all got the same letter. Everyone says november. No other news I am afraid.

End of the month should be good - we should get our dates and the prices for accessories.

Oh , and there is a really crappy print waiting for you at our dealer I think. I have not picked mine up yet , and they have not bothered to call me to say it is there.

Many people having test drives (some more than one) and most test drives are being given to those who have not yet even ordered ! Again , our dealer has not contacted me at all....

So - business as usual !

Hi All,

Just joined this forum trying to get some more information than from my dealer. They cannot tell anything.
Yesterday I called Mazda Holland to find out if my car would arrive this year. I ordered a RX8 LP - Titanium - with Bose stereo and DVD navigation on the 22th March this year. First one in my country.
Mazda told me that my RX8 was expected to arrive in Antwerpen somewhere around the end of October, beginning of November and it would take then approx two weeks to get it ready to drive in.
But reading all your mail I wonder if that could be true.
In Holland we did not get any RX8ths to look at or to drive in. We have to do with pictures (and the Internet).
I am also very keen on buying extra's for my RX8, but again, there is no information at all. Rest my case.

Kind regards,

Eric

No news for Sweden either..

All I got was " All cars that we get are sold.. but we don't know when we get them"

Is this the beginngin of troubles for Mazda??
It looks like Europe is getting "leftovers" when the US and Japan got their cars...

OK Guys,

I received the following email today as an update from Mazda:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tomorrow we should be able to send you a copy of the finalised price list for accessories on a PDF - we have managed to drop some prices in certain cases and in others we have not. Unfortunately in the short to mid term we will be unable to offer any of these as packs - however this maybe something you can discuss with your dealer. In the post this week and next pre-order customers will be sent the final brochure as we are starting to receive these from the printers. Following this up wil be the full accessories brochure which should be with you in the next couple of weeks.

In regards to delivery dates boats are well and truly on the water and we are loading pre-order records into our dealer stock system so when we allocate a car/vin to a customer and dealer this will then be visible on the dealers system. The dealers should be able to start to see these cars (in batches) - latest this will happen is week commencing 29th September but at this time they won't be able to see all cars as we are dependant on the factory releasing VINS.

Unfortunately if you ask me where your car is for example we can't tell you until we complete the exercise above.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheers
Mark

following on from Mark's email, my dealer confirms that Morgan and i are in the first batch due in November. Not sure however how they work out who gets theres first because EP numbers dont exist anymore and had disappeared long ago. Would suspect though from Mazda anyone with an EP particularly a low number will be in the first batch.

Thumbs up VIN

As I am a common Dutch guy, I wonder about a few things.
The VIN number of a car, I suppose that must be Vehicle Identification Number. Is that correct?
I know there are a lot of you who know that number and can therfore track their car as it is shipped. There are probally a lot of you in the UK, which is a more important export country for Mazda than the Netherlands. It seems to be that I am on my own here.
Could anybody plaese tell me what it takes to get to know a little bit more about my pre-orederd RX8. I would very appreciate a little help.

Eric

Eric,

you are right when you say the VIN number is the identification number but as yet no one in the UK has theres to be able to track where there car is.

In terms of the Netherlands i havent a clue unfortunately all i can say is speak to Mazda but probably you will be as much in the dark with them as we are with Mazda UK.
If it wasnt for Mark and a few others we wouldnt be any the wiser either.

Just as an update, I have just recieved a letter from Mr Thompson, responding to my complaint letter that I sent a week or two ago.

A very polite letter which suggests that they understand our frustration, and are doing everything that they can to get us behind the wheel as soon as possible.

No delivery date promised, so no help with loan car.

Still their intention to start delivering cars in OCctober, but since they cannot be specific as to who will get their cars in October, they have prefered to be pesemistic and say November.

Shortly loading the first batch of vehicle info into the delers databases.

Just got off the phone to my local friendly Mazda dealer and here's a summary of what he told me (while its still fresh in my memory):

Me: Hi, any update on when I will be getting my car, only according to the web forum Mazda have started updating the dealer delivery network with this information.

Mazda: Well, I checked this morning and our showroom car is listed on the system - but no exact dates for any of our customers as yet. You are still listed as November - which I assume means you will get one of the first ones on the first ship.

Me: When are you getting the showroom car?

Mazda: Well, the date on the system is the 14th Oct. But we have arranged with Mazda to collect it from Silverstone on the 27th Oct. Most dealers have a showroom and demonstrator car ordered (as have we) and we expect to get both on the 27th Oct, although the demo is still not being listed on the system as yet. We are expecting to take the first deliveries on the car transporter from Mazda starting that week and to get the first ones out to customers asap.

Me: Okay, so hopefully the first week in November does sound promising.

Mazda: Yes, although I don't know if the cars will arrive at the dealership in the same order as customers ordered. We shall be processing cars for customers in first off the transporter order. We have been told by MAzda that the PDI is quite extensive and will tie up a mechanic for the best part of a day. So, it may take a few days to get all of the cars prept and ready to take away.

Me: When should I think about ordering any accessories?

Mazda: Not just yet. Wait until you come back off Holiday and order them mid-oct. It's too early for us yet as while Mazda may have published a price list the computer system doesn't allow us to order them yet.

Me: Will you be able to quote me prices without fitting?

Mazda: Yes we can sort something out with you if you want to fit some of the parts yourself.

Me: Do you have my framed print by the way?

Mazda: Yes, have you seen it?

Me: Yes - I'll pop in tomorrow and collect it if thats okay. Cheers!

nice to know they're taking the PDI seriously, although if it's a full day it could have a fair knock on for dealers with a large number of pre-orders.

I thought that. Anyone seen any posts on how long a typical PDI takes for the RX8?

It's not a joke ........

Dear All,

I just hung up the phone, talking to Mazda Holland.
I called them about my pre-ordered RX8.

The news they brought me after calling me back was something to get quiet of. Delivery date will probaly be end of December this year or early January 2004. In that last case I have been waiting for almost a year.

I will put on my hardtop on my MX5 for a couple of month's and try to keep patient.

Kind regards to all of you waiting and waiting and waiting and .....

Eric

It's very important to tell us when you ordered your car. If it was before August then this is not good. Also: High or standard power engine please?
