Any News From Mazda Uk??

I for one also wrote a personal letter to Mr.Thompson.

I know that there was also a group letter sent.

Anyone heard or had any feedback from our complaints?

Should we wait and if so how long before we pick up the phone "en mass" and bombard Mr.Thompson?

Cheers

...or any other dealers. As I said before I don't think we can blame the dealers who are trying to manage a confusing situation and rely on Mazda UK who themselves seems to be left in the dark as its franchise is so relatively unimportant.

Nothing in the post this morning, I will try and give Mr Thomson a call this afternoon.

Also, still not had my invite to the preview on Monday night, no surprise there then....

Let us know how you get on.

Looks like he may have a few calls if they don't pull their fingers out!

My next problem is finding a number, BT don't seem to have a number listed for his address and looking at the Mazda site only gives the 0845 numbers.

There's a surprise! It'll turn out to be a flat above a shop in a run down street in Basingstoke, occupants not seen recently but occasional noises late at night.

Unfortunately I did not get round to ringing Mazda this afternoon to chase a reply to the group letter I sent. Hopefully I will manage to do this tomorrow, unless a letter arrives tomorrow morning that is.......

I received a reply to the letter that I sent to Mr Thomson, Mazda UK's marketing director. The majority of the communication matched that already posted here, but there were a couple of tailored paragraphs that I hope Mr Thomson will not mind me sharing with you. The letter was very welcome, well written and helpful, Mr Thomson treated my opinions with the utmost respect regardless of their validity. I feel better now that the situation has been explained and now that Mazda UK understand how badly we (nearly) all felt. Here is the additional text and I repeat that this is edited from a larger document:

With regard to the confirmation of engine power output and insurance groups we did not communicate this in writing to pre-order customers, although the Mazda RX-8 web site was updated with this information as soon as it became available. In hindsight I agree that this information should have been sent to every pre-order customer, please accept my apologies for this oversight.......

Please accept my apologies that we have not kept you up to date with information on your Mazda RX-8 pre-order. We have endeavoured to provide our pre-order customers with information as soon as it became confirmed, however it appears that on this occasion we have not met this objective. We do value all our pre-order customers for the Mazda RX-8 and I appreciate you taking the time to advise me of the situation as it appears to our customers. We have learnt some valuable lessons regarding the launch of this important and exciting vehicle and your comments will assist us to provide a better level of service to our customers.
Once again, may I thank you for taking the time to write to me and please accept my apologies for this regrettable delay.

I received a broadly similar letter yesterday as well.

There was an extra paragraph in response to my suggestion that some form of compensation be made:

Your request for some form of compensation is understood, however as we have never provided a firm delivery date to customers I do believe that financial compensation, in the form of servicing or accessory vouchers, is justified on this occasion.
As Lensman says, a good response and it appears that Mr Thomson understands our frustration.

Again this text is taken from a larger letter.

Looks like Mazda are actually beginning to take our feelings on board.

Think the mention of the forum and the collective bargaining power we have now is making them shiver in their boots.

There was also mention of the forum in my letter, with particular reference to Rob Dicksons post of his reply from Chris Twine.

So MarkW and Rob Dickson are now the voices of the masses....:D

Some clarification please.

In Chris's extract about compensation in reading it I was under the imnpression from the tone and use of words that they would NOT offer any compensation as they had never given us a delivery date....but that is not what is actually said.

Is there a typo in the letter or is compensation now agred by Mazda UK.

granted there is an element of ambiguity there

The final tone however DOES indicate that they accept some form of compensation may be offered to relieve the pain.

Im with rael -

Tone indicates there will be NO compensation , but wording says there will be. Very odd.
I suspect a typo....

I dont think they intended compensation - although if they do , I'll have me some of that !

The owrd "not" is definateley missing from that line. Why else would they have put "however as we have never provided a firm delivery date to customers"....

Lets be clear. The dealers arent making money out of these cars (if they are believed) and so you arent going to get freebies out of them. I think since Mazda Uk have been let down by Japan, your only course of action (pointless IMHO) is to ask them for something...

If they dont offer you anyrhing, what are you going to do - cancel?

I sent an email to Mazda yesterday asking for an update on various issues.

They havent replied to me yet, but will inform everyone as soon as I hear anything.

Oilman, you only want my name so you can have my EP Number :p

We need to continue pushing Mazda UK for compensation as the dealers will not give anything away (although they may suggest that now) because the presumed demand. And because the extras are coming in expensive.
