NEW TURBO KIT RELEASED!!!

Aimed at potential Greddy customers, this kit allows you to surpass numbers that the Greddy turbo kit can only dream of while spending no more. It provides excellent drivability and instant boost giving the RX-8 that much needed torque at the lower end of the power band.

This is the perfect turbo kit for Autocross with a fat torque curve and lots of area under the curve from 2500rpm to redline.

  • Easily upgradeable to the HP kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Cobb accessible with adapter kit (Coming Soon!).
  • Greddy competitive pricing.
  • Super quick spooling, 2000-2500rpm.
  • Good power band in the upper RPM range (lots of area under the curve).
  • Based on the same great platform as our original HP Kit.
  • Garrett turbocharger.

We are offering this kit at a price of $3995.00!!!! Unheard of!

We offer the kit with a T4 Flanged (for interchangeability with our Precision Unit) Garret T04 turbo.

It is just right for 350whp on a rotary.

Can we see pictures of the complete kit?
How did your test cars do as far as reliability?
Dyno maybe?

We didn't do long term tests on this setup because it is based on our HP kit but at lower power levels and if anything it should offer improved reliability. Our HP kit was tested and retested for 30k miles initially before its release in 2006 and has been proven and tested time and time over again in many customer cars. We didn't change the core of the turbo kit when going to the Standard so we didn't need to re-test the main components.

What we do know is that the engine should strain less with less horse power and that the turbo is a very proven Garret unit so long term reliability is not a concern for us right now.

We do not have a dyno yet but are working on having one soon. We are currently working on a test platform and will post pictures and dyno soon.

Best regards,

Chris

I'll check back when it's all set up with pics and dyno.
Looks very promising. Any sales yet? I wanna be flagship... :)

Yes, top mount. It is based on the HP kit with the same manifold and down pipe.

It will hopefully be sooner than later that someone/anyone can "donate" a S2 car to Chris long enough for he and his crew to explore and develop a reliable tuning method so that these turbos become a truly viable and reliable option for the S2 crowd.

Seems to me that if anyone is able and willing to do this, it would most likely be the boys at Esmeril.

thecarter19 06-10-2011 12:19 AM

Esmeril, in your professional opinion or those with good experience/knowledge with going turbo with a series I. What else is would be recommended or definately good to have thats not included in this kit. obviously gauges to monitor but I'm trying to figure what the true total price would be for parts to get reliable as possible power out of this kit in the 300range , not necessarily upgrades to max it out.

For the standard kit all you would need is the following:

Needed:
  • Boost gauge
  • AFR gauge
  • Fuel Management (our Plug and Play ECU or other)

Recommended:
  • Water/Methanol Injection
  • Cobb Adapter Kit if using a Cobb (kit to be released shortly)

That would sum it up.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Chris

I notice you have high flow cat listed as a future purchase...if you're going FI skip it and just get a resonated mid-pipe. Odds are you will burn through that cat, at least with FI in the 8 that's been my experience.

I would suggest a few more things that you might consider changing:
1. uprated oil pressure regulator
2. radiator fan control - if you're going AP then this will address that
3. Alter your water to coolant mix for summer and winter driving in Chicago
4. Premix
5. Use a 40 weight oil

Another tuning option would be Shook Motorsports. He's successfully dyno tuned with the AP several Greddy turbo cars.

Chris, looks like a great setup and at a sorely needed price point!

thecarter19 06-10-2011 03:28 PM

not bad, not bad, so you would say upgrading stuff like the clutch or the apex seals is a bit of overkill for this kit as-is?

For 350whp or less it would not be necessary.

Engine management is not included because we will be offering the choice of using a MAF based system like the Cobb in the near future so the choice will be yours. We do offer the Microtech plug and play system and frankly, we really like it.

Chris

should have just re-read this post, so are there going to be maps available for those who plan on using the AP or will it just have to be retuned by the installer

Why is it that vendors are so secretive about what turbo they use - never could understand this .....

Hehe, this time I wasn't trying to be secretive. The turbo is in fact a Garret T4 though, literary a T4, that is what its called. In this kit we offer it with a .84 A/R but there are several A/R's to choose from. Inlet on the compressor housing is 3" and outlet is 2.5" so its a standard T4 turbo. Commonly known as a T04E/B.

Hope that clears it up ;)

Chris

Hey where is my kit that I ordered back in May???? You told me it would be here by the 2-3rd week of June....TOMORROW IS JULY 1st! I paid in full, others have received their kits, WTF man!!!

Beware if you buy! Im about ready to file a claim since none of my emails have been returned.

I have a question for ya. I understand that your company only specializes in turbos. There is a Flanged Quad Throttle Body for the RX8 that I'm tempted to buy. I've asked around about its design as to my superiors of knowledge on cars, they were confused, but doubted that it was a scam. The price I'm not really concerned with, unless you could provide me with a more reasonable product. If you had some time on your hands would you look at it, possibly give me some info about it. Gains in particular, but also installation. To be honest, its design is unlike any throttle body I've ever seen. Maybe you could show some light on this mystery. here is the URL.

http://microtechefi.com/index.php?ro...&product_id=68

also another thing I need help on:

http://www.obdscan.net/RX8_PGM.htm a standard programmer
and

http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/part..._Booster/16326

I would appreciate it very much if you could help me out here. I do eventually want to turbo my car, and I would like to do some research on y'all s product. Thank you for reading this.

E,

Please check your email again as we responded. You ordered the ball bearing option (which is a sweet upgrade btw) but it was backordered at Precision. It is just shipping to our facility now, we will install oil flanges, orientate it, and pack it with the rest of the kit.

That is why some kits shipped before yours, theirs were not with the ball bearing option.

Not sure why you are not receiving our emails, feel free to message me on here.

Best Regards,

Chris

Chris, first of all congrats for offering this great kit to us all at this very competitive price ...I do though have some questions i would like you to clear out for me if you don't mind.

1) For all us, COBB owners ,when you say soon you will be offering a proper MAF intake piping, how soon is that approximately ??

2) Will we need your Battery Relocation Kit and Battery with the standard kit ??

3) Is it necessary to buy your upgraded ignition coils for the standard kit? And if yes,do they have different ignition dwell timings from the stock ones?If also yes,can you provide the new dwell timings to us in order to get a proper tune from our tuner ??

4) For all of us that dont want to send you in our stock injectors for upgrade, since that will mean that we won't be able to use our cars for at least a month, can you offer a set of stock-upgraded ones and at what price??Can you also offer bigger injectors(prefferably the 1000 cc ones) so that we will be upgrade ready for the bigger kit if we choose so in the future and if yes at what cost ??

Thanks again Chris, for an indeed interesting turbo choice ...

Hello,

I will try to answer in order:

1. We are looking at somewhere in fall.

2. You will need to either relocate it with our kit or put it in your trunk.

3. It is not necessary but recommended. The Stock ones tend to go bad with use and they can barely handle 300whp. As for dwell, this is not something you adjust on our ignition coils. This is something you adjust on the EMS whatever it may be. And yes, our coils can handle a variety of dwell amounts. We can provide you with guidance for this.

4. We will offer a core charge amount for if you just want to keep your injectors intact. As fro upgradeability, we will offer a full Standard to HP upgrade kit that will include injectors amongst other things.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Chris

Quick question, lets say I order the kit, will I get everything I need? including the injectors? and then we just send you OUR injectors back? or do we get the kit then send OUR injectors in and then wait to get them back? (which would take a while)

We would need yours sent in for modification or we could sell you a set.

We turn them around fairly quickly so down time shouldn't be too huge.

Chris,

You don't think an upgraded radiator, oil coolers, or water pump is essential when getting any turbo? It just seems to me that engine temps are essential for performance and reliability. I do realize the water/meth system aids in this endevor but what about the above mentioned parts?

I just find it hard to believe no additional cooling is required.

Regards,

Chris
