Oh wow that's an excellent comparison!

Hey Dennis I just placed an order for those gunmetal mica strakes and a new untried finish on the rotary accents :D Can ya tell I'm excited :D

This matches so well that I did a test of two different silver colors on a scrap fog light strake and here is the result of the match to the wheel color. These were actually a silver and a light pewter. I wasn't sure if the wheels were a bit more towards the pewter until I put this up against them. I cannot tell the difference between the silver and the wheel silver.

i remember reading a thread that derwankel bought a MS spoiler to replicate. What is the process of that project, if u dont mind me asking. Or are you too busy right now with ur current load. Also, your products look amazing from the pictures.

Yeah ... I've got one just sitting in the box ... it's on the radar but the backlog is keeping us both pretty busy ... so I wouldn't look for it anytime soon.

...but someday :D

However, what stopped me was not only this backlog. It was also finding a clear Poly resin that is UV stable, that won't yellow and turn to powder from exposure to the sunlight. After searching, I may have found some but, I will have to take the time to catch up with other things.

Quick thought, for your 3 strakes, aside from redoing to evenly distribute, if you really want to go bling, maybe try with 5, the 3 current, and the extra 2 which will be spaced mroe openly. Just a thought so you dont waste the ones that have already been made, or to add to the ones already ordered....

No .... you're not an idiot. We want this process to be as easy as possible ... and it looks like we could improve it a bit. Along those lines I have now highlighted the 2nd paragraph of the first post to this thread and tried to make it easier to see that you simply PayPal the appropriate funds to sales@rx8fun.com:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=37845

If you have any problems, let us know here or at info@rx8fun.com.

... sorry for the trouble

This is cool stuff, looks very nice, just curious if I'm leasing my 8 how would the dealer react to these kinds of add-ons not from them?

How easy is it to remove some of these when its time to return the car? e.g. front/rear rotary accents, side strakes, these are the ones I would be most interested in.

Thanks.

Thanks for the comments....

Dealers are not going to react to cosmetic additions one way or the other. They don't scrutinize each car to see what it has and then reference whether it was bought from them or not. They are oblivious for the most part. To be honest, they'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between our parts and theirs. You can put whatever you want on your car ... leased or not. Just clean it up when you return the car ... or leave 'em on for the next owner.

Removing the items is really quite easy. The adhesive used on most of the parts comes off with a little rubbing alcohol.

Derwenkel,

Would just like to check, with your current work load, how long will it take to get a center, right and left oil (the ones near the fog lights) protectors?

Similar question for me - about how long do you think it would take if I ordered a set of polished strakes? Thanks!

Orders arriving today are scheduled for December delivery...best guess.

Derwankel , couple of questions ...1) Will your oil cooler screens work with cars without the fog lights ? 2) have you thought about making some strakes for fog light area without fog lights? Thanks , DrR

Presently they do not fit without the fog lights. I molded them to fit up against the fog light housing. However, I am in the process of building the prototypes that fit without the fog lights and they should be available within a month give or take a week or two. I have to finish taking my front end off for the fifth time to do the fitting of the acrylic frame I have to build then measure and bend the acrylic strips that form the master for the molds of the mounts. After that, I have to fit this to my front bumper rear after I remove my fog lights.

Then I make a mold from this acrylic model to enable me to cast the frame. I am designing this frame to have the mounts and grills to be one total piece as well as the current one in production. This will enable them to be bolted on with no assembly required. Presently, the mounts have to be paced on as the framed grill is put into place and everything needs to be assembled as they are installed.

The fog light accent strakes are also designed with the fog lights in mind. However, this is also something that I am planning on doing. I want to design it a little bit different though and place more of an emphasis on styling with the opening and integrating with the OC grill.

So much to do, so little time...sometimes I feel like ***** Wonka in the chocolate factory. :D

After next week I plan on cranking these out a lot faster. I am picking up a supply of the material for the grills from a direct supplier instead of having the material mailed to me in small quantities. I also have purchased some electric shears that make things cut a lot faster and eases my having to snip each and every part of the grills by hand. New molds are being made this week to make things a lot easier to assemble for both myself, as the manufacturer, and you as the customer.

To give you an honest estimation, it should not be longer than a month for these items.
