not to mention the high costs of lodging, which wouldnt be spent in his case. Oh well..
i live an hour and a half away and am very thankful to have such an awesome event so close!
Cant wait. BTW, our cabin is number 110 for now and maybe number 90 if someone sees this and needs a place for themselves.
All the cabins on the lodge side of the street are booked and the ones higher up than the 90, 105,110 are are gravel road and mountainous.

LOL!! You must be a first time rotary owner as you abviously doesn't know the meaning of "Big Money Pit!" Because if you really knew, you wouldn't be complaining about $37.00.. WOW! I guess we sure do live in a different priority and you have absolutely no clue how much time it goes into organizing an event like this at a remote location... Have you been to any car events besides your local FREE gatherings??
All I could say to you is, save your precious $37.00 so you could drive for another 2 weeks. I for sure prefer you don't show... And just so you know, Car show and such is held at a private property and I have every right to ask you to leave. Thanks to your comments, I will be in look out for your car and volunteers will ask you to leave. But I'm sure you wouldn't want to spend money to come out all the way there, so I don't have to worry...
Priorities.. LMAO!! FYI: 90+% of people coming to this event are going to spend more than $37 on gas round trip... Some driving over 2000 miles to this event.

did i say anything at all that indicated that i might or might not know how much time you put into this? no. i didn't, and that has nothing to do with anything i've said until now. i'm sure you've busted your *** over it and you've put in a lot of time organizing this, and good for you. but i'm still not going to pay money for something that i don't want to participate in, and can't participate in. you can wish me away all you want to (still unclear why you'd want to, since the presence of ANY rotary car at this event, paying or non-paying, makes it still an even bigger and more impressive event all around) but i'm still probably going to show up for an hour or two to run the dragon, check out some cars, and have a good time. i don't know where you got the indication that i'm going to come there and cause any kind of problem for you or your volunteers.
my offer still stands to let some people crash with me in order to offset some of the cost of this event for those who have a long drive. i mean, if you don't mind staying with the DGRR 2009 pariah

So, Let me get this straight.. So, you don't want to spend $37.00 because of your priorities (and its 2 weeks of gas money) and I'm guessing you also don't want to support the rotary community?? Or is it just my event? Also by looks of it, you got interested in the 8 after last years DGRR... Or was it just coincidental.. LOL!
Just remember, event like this takes time and $37, as some thinks its a great deal of money, is a form of support. Don't be contradicting when you clearly mentions "DGRR" in your previous posts and then antagonize by saying you are not going to pay money because the road is FREE. You are completely missing the point of what this event is all about...
I would also appreciate it, if you don't support, just keep that to yourself instead of blabbering and contradicting yourself. It only shows your immaturity.

i've never insinuated that i don't like your event; i think it's great. but unfortunately i won't be able to attend any of your activities because of time constraints. should i pay you anyway?
I hate to break it to you, but there will be many a rotary owner that shows up without paying just to see some cars and run the dragon. i hope you don't give them as hard of a time as you have me.

LOL!!
Do you really don't know why you are getting such a hard time from me and others??
I would say this.. if you started off by saying, "I love DGRR, I bought my car day after last years event. Unfortunately, I have to work and can't attend most of the gathering such as the car show and banquet... Would it be ok for me to meet you guys on the dragon as I live few mins away??"
If you said it that from start, I would surely said, "COME on out and join us on the dragon!"
Instead, You state:
Which states you don't appreciate the time I put in to the other stuff Until we gave you hard time about it..
Then
So, what other people are stupid to pay $37???
And this..
Bottomline, There are reasons... And to break it down to you, its not because they show up to the event without registering, its your attitude about it all. I have no issues with people coming to the event to check different cars and such. Obviously day before you bought your car, you didn't pay. I do hope they realize what kind of time and effort was put in and hope they would support vs. just showing up, but that's life. Just think about it, if it wasn't for the organizers of DGRR, there wouldn't be such event in your area. You might think its just a car show for 2 hours, but its actually meeting top rotary vendors and hanging out with enthusiasts for 2-3 days and talking about cars and driving together on various roads surrounding US129. That's what's its all about.. If DGRR is to make money, it would of been held at a huge parking lot and invite all the ricers who's willing to pay $20 to just park their car for half a day.

$37 is gas for two weeks. some people just have different priorities.
maybe next year you guys could make everyone who shows up and doesn't pay (to drive on a public road) wear a bright red t-shirt or something, so everyone knows.
when i get there, i expect to see a booth set up on the side of the overlook hassling passers-by for money for looking at the cars.

i think its just the point that you complain about paying the 37 and only taking advantage of the event for whats convenient for you, then post else where about buying new wheels and what not without problems finding that money. Ill get whatever wheels you want, give you a discount of 37 dollars, then you can register ? :P
