Do good for us man, don't be one of the "slow 8's" that everyone hates getting behind

dont know if you remember back in 2011, there was a guy in a white 8 (not me) who kept waving out his window to tell the cars behind him to slow down.... VERY annoying. Kind of like the red truck last year that was pissing everyone off by driving at a crawl on purpose until the guy in the blue r3 stopped him and told him to pull the **** over. THAT was ballsy as ****/epic

 

There's a few of us from the Toronto area going down the weekend before,cabin is already booked. It will be my 1st time, but given were going early and will get some time on the Dragon before most get there,I won't be one of those slow guys(hopefully)

Would I be missing out on much if I were to arrive around 2 or 3 on Friday? Seems like most people go down Thursday but this will be my first one and I am trying to figure it all out.

 

Im gonna try my best to make it to this meet. Im from Nashville TN and I would love to meet up with a bunch of other ppl and ride there. Ive never been to the dragon so that would be awesome.

I just need to read up on the site more about times and everything about when everybody is leaving and stuff. Ive never went to any kinda meet like this. Haha

 

Well for me Friday morning is great because we traditionally do a "Mountain Loop" were a caravan gets up early and does a big circle through some of the more popular roads, such as the skyway, dragon, and 28, ending at Fontana Dam for the "Damn Dam" picture. That is the big group shot you always see in Modified Mag or on the web sites. it is one of the main three events, the others being the car show on Saturday morning and the award ceremony Saturday night, and the only one I really car about (my car will win no awards or car shows, lol) So yes, in my opinion, you would be missing out on the best part if you sow up mid day on Friday

Usually all of the southern caravans meet in Atlanta and ride up together; its really good fun to be in a group and constantly see more rotaries suddenly join up out of nowhere! Both of you guys, DO THIS!! You have no idea how sad I am to miss it this year, I feel like I am killing a tradition

 

Haha I'm definitely gonna do my best to be there. Maybe it can be a birthday present to myself. April 18th is my birthday so it would be cool to go somewhere like deals gap for it.

 

Sounds like the Friday morning cruise would be good but I dont think ill be making it. Im sure there are many other drives through the Dragon though right?

Seems like right now my plan is going to be to leave on Thursday afternoon and arrive early Friday morning, around 3am so ill be pretty tired and might just meet up at the Damn for that picture. What time is that usually?

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

3PM - 6PM Check in at Nantahala Village and Hang Out at the lodge... or whatever you like

7PM - 9PM Dinner (either at NVNC*** or near by restaurants)

10PM - Midnight Hang out and chat with fellow rotorheads at NVNC


Friday, April 20th, 2012

9AM - 11AM - informal meet and greet at NVNC.. Some of us will be making the track around the area (approximately 125 miles).

1PM - 5PM - Meet and Greet and 1st round of registration up at the Fontana Dam
We will line up the cars around 5PM (if weather is bad, then we'll meet up at NVNC and group photo will be push to Saturday at the dam).

5PM - DAMN DAM Photoshoot - Group photo will be taken at 5:00PM. So, please come by 4:30PM or you will not be in the picture.

8PM - 10PM - 2nd round of Registration at NVNC

10PM - 12AM - Hang out at NVNC parking lot.


Saturday, April 21st, 2012

8AM - Parking lot open for shows.. **Some cars will be asked to be moved from the main parking lot**

9AM - 11AM - Last round of Registration

10AM - Car Show Judging.. Car show will be judged by vendors and select members of fellow rotorhead.

11AM - Safety announcement

12PM - 7PM Start of FREE time / Lunch. After 12PM you are Free to either head to US 129, Go white water rafting, horse back riding, etc..

7PM - dinner (TBA or eat at your own favorite restaurant!) NVNC - See below comment.

8:30PM - 10PM Banquet at NVNC. Door prizes, car show winner announcements, raffle winner announcement, etc.

10:30PM - Hang out at NVNC parking area.


Sunday, April 22th, 2012

6AM - Check out for those going to the Import Alliance in ATL

7:30AM - Caravan will leave to goto Turner Field (Please make sure your car is filled up as
we will not stop unless emergency.

10AM - Arrive at Import Alliance

1PM - Lunch in ATL (TBA)

Those not going to the Mitty @ Road ATL
11AM - Check out
12PM - Lunch (TBA)
1PM - DGRR 2012 drive thru Skyway. This drive takes about 1-2 hours.
3PM - Gas up and good byes.

The Event Locations are important meeting points during the event. If you have an important location that I missed, or that you want added to the list, please let me know what the location is, the Google latitude and longitude (Latitude and Longitude of a Point), and the address.
