hey guys whats up I cant believe it. it feels like I missed summer

I just found out I am getting a new engine and the car should be ready on Friday

 

I hope the cost for the new engine is not prohibitive!

from what they told me its all under warranty and ill I have to pay is the initial diagnosis cost hundred bucks or so.

 

Any word on what happened to the engine?

Yeah, lost summer for me too, more/less. Tweaking my new DD now, since I don't want to use the RX in winter in case I mess up the Volt for a few days.

 

Ya no word on cause they just ran out of things to do so they are going to replace it.

sure but I just stopped by mazda and my car was still out side .... and the one guy didn't think he would get to it till Monday I guess they wanted to have a even # of weeks they had my car... 8 weeks next Monday. and from what I was told they just sent a new block ... I don't think its the block at all its in the intake system and they are just moving it from one to the other !!!!!! WTF!!! I am going to bet there is still a issue after the swap the engine.

As a curious onlooker, Fisher, what were the symptoms of your engine fail? I've got 107 000kms and have been waiting for the "reaper" any day now.

 

Well it was running great till one day it injected 2L of oil in the engine all at once. its like the oil injectors came on a did not shut off ... how ever they have not replaced them. and a new engine is not everything new all it is , is a new block that's it all other parts are moved from one to the other.... so not super happy about that and I don't think what they are doing will fix the issue.

 

I passed the emission test. 2 more years of freedom!

 

Fisher, that's interesting about the engine. i thought an engine came out and a new one came in.
Have you seen Footman's post about his engine? He reported a rattling sound at high RPM's. I got an ugly sound at 5000 and up; sounded like gravel in a can. Dealer replaced the motor mounts but the noise persisted. Finally Ive put in injector cleaner (2 bottles so far from crappy Tire, one more to go) and so far the noise has gone. I believe the motor will go; it seems inevitable but as long as it runs I love to drive.

 

Chad D; did you have to do anything "special" to pass emissions?

 

I didn't really need to do anything special with the new odbII test. My cobb took care of it. No engine light, no sign that the engine has been modified, way better than the sniffer test for me and my ported/tuned renny.

 

Did you issue gas masks for the testing crew?

so update ppl on my car ..

I have had te engine replace ... the replacement has a bad front seal. Windsor mazda said they would fix that but oops they don't have the tool to do the work. .... omg really oh FYI this is week 10 I believe. I will say this DO NOT GOTO WINDSOR MAZDA .... I don't know how Chatham is but this is getting stupid.

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do and if I can get anything from mazda for all these issues that I have had.
