No nothing wrong. Just recently got the 8 and looking for some respectable/knowledgeable rotary people.

 

We have meets now and again, you should come out. If you have any questions you can ask me if you'd like. I am not a specialist but prettty knowledgeable about the 8. Are you going to drive it through the winter? do you have winter tires?

 

Thats great ... thanks for the offer. I won't be driving my 8 during the winter but under the right conditions I might take it out for a ride on a nice day. I've got 4 yrs bumper to bumper warranty still so i'm not doing any mods as of yet but one day I'd love to get 300 hp to the wheels. Whether I work with the renesis or put a different rotary in there is yet to be determined through alot of reading as I know very little atm.

 

Hi Chad. I want to start premixing and was wondering if you premix what local brand are you using. I've been to Canadian Tire and Power Cycle and couldn't find Redline or Idemitsu. Those seem to be the favorites on this site. I think one day I would love to have the sohn mod. Thanks.

 

For premix I use 6oz of Legend ZX-2SR, can't get it in Canada though. My alternative is Amsoil Sabre Pro. 300hp will need a turbo. I'm over 200whp NA with some mods. I have a sohn, gonna install it during the winter break, along with other things, like a custom exhaust.

I'll be wrenching on the Acura on Tuesday, I really have to get this car done for the season. Have the top end off, gonna replace the gaskets, cam seals, hoses, clean it all up good, paint the valve cover blue. If your bored come by.

Hello - I imported an RX-8 from Kitchener ( previously owned in Richmond Hill) to St. Clair Beach.
I need to start a full inspection of all the bits and pieces, so, like Mindgarden I'd like to know if there are any preferred mechanics/shops to frequent.
This car once belonged to member "hobbes" so I trust it's in good shape.
Chad - you seem to be the local guru - any thoughts on mechanics? I need to do the 60K service on this one - and need to get to know what I have.

Mindgarden - Redline can be found at Canadian Tire - but it hides in the Snowmobile section...

Hey Quid, I do most of the stuff myself (with the help of many DIY's), I get my oil changed at the stealership, and for other things I visit Chip @ chips motorsports in Shelby Township, Mi.
What do you need done for the 60K marker? Are you storing your 8 for the winter?
That's good you got a silver one, I don't see many Stunning Silvers around.
How do you like St.C.B? I lived on Brighton rd. for a while when I was a trouble maker.

 

Chad - I don't know what should be done, I know the past owner took good care - but it sat for a while. I suspect the plugs are due. I fear that the dealer may have over filled the oil in doing an oil change (or so it seems from the dipstick ) and just need to get to know if the air filter or coils might need replacing. I thought it might be prudent to take it in to the dealer to have a once over - Mazda in town will lube oil and filter and rotate my tires ( which I won't need) test my battery (which seems fine ) and a 41 point inspection for 50 bucks... November special. I have no idea what the 41 point are... but I suspect it is the standard lights, fluids, breaks, etc that were part of my recent safety. Thus maybe a 60 K inspection...

I do plan to use the 8 in the winter and recently picked up some winter tires which I will put on next week. I do like the colour a deep metallic. I don't live too far from Brighton, in the older section of SCB. I have heard that the dealers in Michigan are less expensive then Windsor Mazda - but it look like Chip is preferred.

All in all she is new and I want to be sure I am in good shape before I do a spin to Toronto and back in 2 weeks.

She did have a slight idle issue very rough) but with new gas and some premix that seems to be getting much better tho not perfect yet... and thus maybe the plugs are due.

I would suggest getting some BHR coils, some new plugs (the proper ngk ones) and if you need a replacement air filter I've got a lightly used HKS one i'll sell for 20 bucks. I will be changing to a cold air intake over the winter so I won't need it and i've got two of them.

How about this Sunday???? I got the plates for the Acura, have done many fixes and just need to complete the overhaul.
I can't wait to do some of the mods I've been holding off on. I've been doing good at work too so if I can muster a big enough bonus I'm going to get that re-amemiya front bumper. The one with the fog lights in it.

Honduh is almost ready for the winter. Just a trunk load of things left.
