When to put on the winter boots? GTA

I have my winter tires sitting here ready to go but I do not want to put them on right this second as I am concerned about needlessly wearing them down prior to the snow arriving.

When are you guys planning on making the switch? Right now we are colder than normal at this this time of year I was hoping to hold off a few more weeks. Anyone else holding out?

Tomorrow morning!

One extra week with the winter tires on won't kill you. Driving in a light dusting of snow/and or cold rain will!

I switched them this morning and very happy I did after coming back in the cold rain last night from up north.

Yesterday I did mine, there may not be any snow but the tires are like hockey pucks at this temperature.

I am holding out for a few more weeks, I hope. As soon as I see snow sticking to the ground that's when I make the switch. You had better be prepared to find another way to work if you take this approach. In a freak storm you best not risk it on summer tires.

Yeah I know they are like hockey pucks in the cold weather. Sounds like now is the time. I have a tail light on order with the dealer in Burlington - I had water in the tailight not just condensation but water. I'll make the switch when that comes in which should be by next weekend.

Fingers crossed that we stay above 4 or 5C with no freezing rain this week.

I recall switching out the summer tires in mid-November when we lived back east. Might have been caught out just once in thirteen years, however, waiting that late.

I hope that you're buying four winters! Don't try to get by on two. You won't be saving money when you crash!

If you have an RX-8, put ur winters on ASAP. the stock tires are not meant to be driven in cold weather. The rubber compound will harden, it'll be dangerous even with rain @ like 5C lets say.

I've had the Sottozeros on since October 25th. Those stock Potenzas slide when it hits 7 celcius. I'm losing rubber without the snow and temps above 5 celcius...but it's a lease...who cares!

The Sottos are gems in the snow by the way.

I'm still waiting it out. Good thing I did, as this week will be warm. I change the wheels myself, so I'm a bit more flexible.

On my previous car, non-performance, I would wait until mid December. But that was with all-season tires.

With RX-8, I was hoping beginning of December, but might have to cut it short a bit. I'm taking it one week at a time...

Yea the weather is so nice today. But I don't really notice a difference between my stock tires and the winter ones.

Drive your 8 safely with the stock summe tires Falcon, as they suck in cold weather since the rubber compound hardens. Be careful in cold rain.

True. I swapped mine three weeks ago. Not that I'd ever wish for snow...but today was a glorious fall day. Where were these days in October??? I don't notice much of a difference either, but that's city driving, not a wide open 407.

You do realize that 5C and rainy is exactly what it's like in Vancouver from December - March, right? I think I know of only one or two people out there with snows on in the winter!

I put the winter shoes on last night...Blizzak LM-25 (225 45 R18)., hopefully they do a good job.
Still mild in Toronto but I thought I'd better be safe than sorry, as I'm heading to cottage country this weekend and didn't want to chance a snow squall somewhere up there.
