What's the warranty on the key fob?

My key fob is dead. I tried replacing the battery but it still doesn't work. Anybody know the warranty?

As per the Mazda Canada Website:

"Any component of your Mazda Vehicle deemed defective is covered for 36 months or 80,000 km, whichever comes first, from the earlier date of either retail delivery or first use of the Mazda Vehicle."

Not sure if you're talking about a 2005 key fob for a 2004 RX-8, if so i think it's still covered under your warranty. Usually all parts purchased from a dealer and installed by the dealer will be covered under your vehicle warranty.

The warranty would be 3 yrs or 80000km which ever came 1st. HOWEVER, if you have modified the car in any way that would affect the power locks/trunk/alarm system, it may not be covered.

Hello? No way.

There is no connection between the fob and the car. Physical or electrical, and no signals are sent by the car to the fob....it's all one way traffic from the fob to the car. The car could be totally vaporised with an alien heatray and the fob would not be affected...... :D

We have had MANY occasions where a customer has had an alarm system or other devices that have disabled the communication between the factory fob and the car, or caused a need to reprogram the fobs, and that is not covered by warranty.
