What's up with the weather lately!!!!

Hey guys,

I dunno about you but two snowstorms in five days kinda bugs me! Not to mention that we've been collectively having snow storms every two weeks since November!

Ohhh how I can't wait till the summer, or even spring! Today, I had a real blast (sarcastic of course!) driving to work.... I turned into a Timmie's and my rear-wheel bumped off a curb (Thank God no damages), but that sucked, then people drive like it's Laguna Seca raceway here! I don't get why people don't think that tires are just rubber on ice....doesn't matter if it's winter tires, or your car is a 4WD, it's going NOWHERE on ice! Also, you notice how the snowplows clean the highways and roads, but leave a gentle snow/ice middle strip where the tires aren't touched, well my RX-8 goes "thunk thunk" as I drive over it, and makes me "wince" every time I go over it. Ahhh, anyway, this is my rant thread to get the winter blues out so we can go home and shovel! On a brighter side, God has given us snow outside to make it really pretty....it is beautiful, only it's nice to look at....not to drive in! hehe

Okay let's hear your stories from this morning's drive to work!

P.S. I love the shovel and all, but looks like I need this for my driveway:

God Bless you all!

Ben.

Stoney Creek isn't as bad as T.O. We have a couple of inches of snow and rain. Starting to freeze over now...

My RX8 is all nice and sparkling in my garage with no dirt on it.... Unlike...Darkbrew...

Ummm yea try living up in Richmond Hill, anything north of hwy 7 seems to get hit with snow all the time. It has been snowing non stop here since 7am...It's like there is some imaginary border with 7 where once u go north of 7 there is constant snow. I hear it is going to be like this for the next 4 days but my 8 is all nice and shiny still as I store her during the winter

Yeah it wasn't snowing until about 2:30 today and that is on and off... but I'm by the lake so that explains a lot...

You guys are funny!

WELCOME TO CANADA!!!!

Every year we go through the same winter blues. Some take it worse than others.
I'm with ChristInBen. People are utterly stupid on the road!

Thankfully the drive in wasn't too bad. Sure, I got to work late by 15min's. But that's better than some of the other people who arrived 45min-1.5hr late!

Yes, there is a huge weather belt right along hwy 7. As soon as you pass it you enter a different weather system.

Aurora has been covered with snow since Nov. Nothing has thawed. Just slushy and then more snow!

Yesterday night we had a bit of wet snow with some lightening and thunder. Kinda had to do a double take on that. Looked outside to see a couple of flashes.

So far all this hype regarding "global warming" isn't happening!! We're still getting slammed with snow!!

I want it to be tropical damit!!!

Hey Ben, I also slid into a curb today ... first time, dammit.

I know we should be used to this weather, been here all my life, but first winter with the 8 and feeling anxious to get winter over with. All in all, hasn't been bad just lately a lot of snow/rain mixed with warm days. Weird.

Yeah, but without thread jacking... I'm just going to say P0420 means that the catalytic converter detected low effiency. The same code came TWICE within 2 hours of this snow driving.

I'm worried now... seems like the past round of CEL codes, somethings was ******* up, and it looks like it damaged the CAT. but the dealer said the CAT is FINE... ****!

So I was driving home today at a light speed of 25-30km per hour! First gear to second, and back. Again, people were mistaking Eglington Avenue West for the Autobahn....don't mean to complain but where does the sign on Eglington read: "You may tail-gate and do 60km/h on a road full of snow, ice, and cautious drivers!"? Ahh well the important thing is I got home safely by the grace of God, and my RX-8 is fine too!

So check this out, today I had to keep switching my DSC/TSC off every time I was in deep snow to get traction, then I would turn it back on, and also I had to really use my clutch take off from the heavy snow. Does winter driving wear out our clutch, as we have to constantly keep sort of riding it to get out of heavy snow and get some traction on the wheels?

That's "ChristInBen" bro, but yeah, what I'm saying (or the point of this thread) is the weather really sucks right now, and I can't wait for the summer.

Hahaha noooo, lol, I can't speak for Hwy. 7 because I hardly go up there, but Eglington is a street where most people are traveling 20-30km/h and bad road conditions....different story altogether.

Footman,
I take it you lift your wiper blades off the windshield so they don't have a chance to freeze onto it. Right.
