I have Royal Purple Max-Gear in my gearbox, seems fine to me. It's thicker than OEM or Redline so you have to give the synchro a little extra time to spin down. For the diff I've used Royal Purple and some random synthetic stuff from crappy tire. I don't think it makes much difference. The important thing is to flush the diff regularly since there are a lot of metal shavings after 30k.
MTL will work better on the street especiallyin the colder weather. If you take your car to the track the MT90 is a better lubricant. DO NOT USE THE SHOCKPROOF GEAR OIL IN A SYNCRO STYLE BOX! It tells you right on the label that it will cause the syncros to stick and thats very bad............ask me how I know!

Well I've personally never used the shockproof in the RX-8 trans.
But we have been using it all race season in our Hyundai Genesis Coupe race cars, and we use it in every 350Z trans we replace oil in, no problems so far?

We grenaded 3 stock RX7 n/a boxes using shockproof gear oil, then finally like an idiot one day I read the label. We use shockproof gear oil in the rear diff but again wouldnt recommend it for street use.
