Thinking about Motor Swap

Hey Everyone,

My lady has done me well and gotten me to 200k on the original motor and its time for a rebuild or a swap, I am debating among the options listed below.

-Rebuilt my current motor
-FD3S 13B (RX-7 Turbo)
-RB26DETT (Skyline GT-R- year 2001)

or the bullshit I really don't like but seems to be the easiest the LS1 Swap

Would love some feed back and any ideas.

Thanks

Rebuild the renny or REW swap. But it depends on the size of your wallet, your skills, and your goals for the car.

^^This^^

Any swap will be in the $15,000-$20,000 range by the time you're done. A rebuild will likely be sub $5000.

I hate seeing pistons in an rotary car, it makes me so mad, just rebuild or go for an FD3S 13B. if you want and LS buy a Camaro; it would be cheaper anyway.

Putting in a Piston engine in is my last option. I am leaning toward the rebuild that's why it was option #1.
But I heard about pplz putting RB26s in and that caught my attention. That is one crazy motor. I am pretty sure no one in the GTA has done that yet so I would be the first.

That is likely the worst motor you can put in anything ...it is a big heavy pig It can make decent power...but a 2J will give you more power without resorting to a lot of bottom end work

Neither is a great fit in the RX8 chassis though......Hell...I hate to say it but a LSx series engine is a much easier to deal with alternative

I knew you would jump in here... When spring time rolls around I will be stopping in to discuss a plan... I have parts to get her back on the road right away is which I want for a bit since she has been sitting for about a year an a bit.
But i know a swap/rebuild is needed.

Apparently the king of non - rotary swaps would be the Honda F20C (s2000 engine). They are bullet proof and apparently are fully compatible with the rx8 tranny and fit in nicely!

If youre doing the rew, you need the transmission as well, so keep that in mind... along with all the other mounting kits, and wiring fiasco to go through
