Look what I found: Series 2 Tail Light Conversion Kit to Retrofit Series 1
Like most of you, I surf this forum frequently looking for products, info and the next cool thing to do on my car.
Look what I found. A Series 2 Tail Light Kit which retrofits in Series 1 in North America.
Saw these tail lights in person. Super cool stuff.
- No need to get a series 2 bumper, direct replacement
- Great fit, gaps in even with no bulging at the quarter panel and rear bumper
- LED harness included, directly plug into the existing OEM wiring
- Comes with a new tail light gasket to eliminate condensation into the light assemble
Here is pictures of them from the owner's car.
PM me if you have any questions and want more info.
From research, I understand that you use to be able to get them on;
eBAY and CarboninMotion (both no longer sell them).
Thank you for the advise of RIWWP and the moderators on this forum.

There are also these, though you'd have to ship them over the pond from us hillbillies in Europe

Those are sweet!! Ive seen them before and heard about them. They're very expensive though. Ive been told around $1000-$1200 for the pair shipped here.

Well with the Euro spiralling downward you might be luckier than that, but still on the high side.
Actually those are selling aroung 660 Euros + shipping, so around USD 760 give or take plus whatever it takes to get them to your door.
Plus you probably want to get them pained, too.
I agree that they are pretty expensive, and the background to this is probably that they are (said to be):
a) high quality frames and LED modules (Hella branded)
b) road legal in Germany - due to the Hella LED modules.
Anyway, can't wait until I have my lip and diffusor painted black in spring,
so I can also match in these beauties

Those are look like replica of the re-amemiya tail lights.

I guess you are right, I knew I had seen something similar before...but then the RE Amemiya set is some 1000 Euro / 1200 USD even before shipping any painting plus probably not road legal in my part of the world.
On a side note, I like how RE Amemyia left the holes from the logo removal in the trunk lid, respectively just put a sticker over the larger ones. And then not even photoshopped them out

Really? Have you looked at the cost break down to get a R3 set of lights retro-fit in a series I?
OEM R3 tail lights from Scarbo Mazda = $745
OEM R3 rear bumper = ~$700
Painting the rear bumper = ~$400
Labour on wiring & resistors = ~min 1hr @$80
You do the math.

2hit6, you convinced me that you weren't the seller and weren't profiting from it. Why does it matter to you if there was any follow through? How would you even know how much there was?
Were you lying to be before?

If you aren't advertising for him, then it doesn't actually matter. Trying to push his product or advertise for him is where you step back across the line we talked about.
The thread exists, people are aware that they are an option. There is nothing further for you to be involved with on his business that won't be interpreted as trying to skirt the rules.
