Street racing ruled: UNCONSTITUTIONAL

I am The One!
I'm still trying to find out how the hell we got this stupid law passed!
I'm sure the people were against it. So which political ******* passed this through without notifiying the people???
I hope the law disappears.
As they say, it's not speeding that kills you. It's the sudden stop the body endures as it encounters an immovable object.

Ironically Michael Bryant was the ******** Attorney General who passed this blantantly unconstitutional law. Turns out the guy is quite a street racer himself. Karma is a bitch.

Interesting how the arguments supporting this law in Canada are similar to what we are seeing here in Arizona regarding our speed cameras. Supporters of the cameras say "well if you left 10 minutes early you wouldn't have to speed."
It's the fact that it violates the constitution! If the Street Racing law in Canada prevents someone from mounting a defense against it then who cares what the law itself says. If you're being denied your rights then its unconstitutional.
Of course that doesn't even address the way the law has been applied. People getting cited for street racing when they were doing 5kph over the limit? Please.
Everyone is fine with rights being taken away as long as it's happening to someone else.

We've been there and done that with speedcamera's... it's a cashgrab and hense they're gone now. The problem with the street racing / stunting law is that you're guilty until proven innoccent... and the power has been granted to a copy who is not held responsible should he just feel like charging you. You're still stuck at the side of the road as they tow your car... you loose your license for a week.. and you have to pay the $500 bucks to get your car out of the impound at the end of the week.. which you don't get back even if you are found to be not guilty.
I've gotten pulled over for a "unsafe lane change" which was BS in the first place.. but the first words out of the cop's mouth was a threat that if he wanted he could charge me with streetracing.
The whole thing with this street racing law is PR... most people are charged under this law with excessive speed... very few with actual racing. They call it street racing because people automatically think about the F&F.. meanwhile it's usually some tourist getting pulled over on the 401 doign 150 in the middle of nowhere on a long flat road.
bah. i'm done.

The problem is it *wasn't* a cash grab. It was a power grab, which makes it that much more sinister. They threw a bone at the OPP as a political favor, knowing full well that it is bullsh-t.
Sadly scumbags like Michael Bryant will never spend a day in jail. The best we can hope for is a felony conviction and disbarment. Then he will move on to the private sector where he makes a killing sh-tting over somebody else.
The Schadenfreude is priceless though. I hope they send his POS Saab to the crusher. It'd make great photo op for Dalton and crew.

I meant the speed camera's where a cash grab... in fact McGummybear stated he hoped to reinstate them because it would generate some additional revenue. Once he said that the jig was up and they couldn't bring them back because it wasn't "for safety" purposes so there was no point.

but yes.. guilty until proven innocent does suck.. especially on the non-over 150 charges where it's all just about a cop not liking you or not having a good day

Owning a Camry V6 shall be his punishment lol.
I find that most people leave you alone, except the Mark 4 Jetta driving douchebags. Every single one of them feel the need to prove to you the superiority of Mexican engineering as they drive away with one perpetually burnt out tail light.
I can't even imagine the kind of hate S2000 owners have to put up with everyday.

I love the photo that was used in that newspaper article! They make it look like the guy's movin' like a bat out of hell! I did that same type of shot this summer and put it in my album in RX8CLUB. If you look at my speed you can see I am under that speed limit! Too many cops out anyway!
