Thanks, but I'm not actually interested in purchasing either an FRS or a BRZ, I think they are cool cars but I doubt I'll enjoy them as much as my 8 and at least the 8 has decent back seats and a decent sized trunk.

Not to mention, I would never pre-order a car (unless it's maybe a new Ferrari that has a 2 year waiting list), I would never purchase a car before test driving it, and above all else I would never pay FULL price for a car and if it's the first model year you're also going to most likely get F'd with high interest rates.

If I decide to get rid of my 8 eventually I will probably go to Scion and Subaru and check out and drive these cars but unless I can test drive one and as long as rates are good and they're willing to deal then I would consider one, otherwise it ain't worth my time.

The BRZ definitely has a larger/better shaped trunk space + foldable back seats aka. more useable. With regards to the back seats, that's up in the air. I have seen videos of reviews and I'm skeptical especially because I love rx8 back seats, its like a cocoon lol. But If I'm looking for a more people mover friendly vehicle, I'll definitely get a real 4 door car.

Pre-ordering isn't life or death, I just had to put 500 bucks deposit which is fully refundable if I choose to bail (aka. I can check out the car first before actually purchasing it). Also, I'm not getting screwed with high interest rates... 1% is definitely fair, just not as a good as 0% lol. (Just wanted to clear up some facts here).

Don't get me wrong, I definitely love the 8: the rotary engine, the 9k redline, the uniqueness, the list goes on but it also comes with the bad: engines dying at 100k+ (I'm at 140k+ though crosses fingers), engines with low compression, horrible gas consumption etc.. I'm ready for a new car.

Definitely it's nice to not buy at full price for a car but Subaru's mark ups are really not that high (I get discount for being subaru's supplier, aka you roughly know the cost of what they pay, sadly for this car the discount doesn't apply). Plus, we all know cars depreciate no matter what... owning a car is technically throwing away money.

I guess it comes down to I'm looking for a new car and this is a modest one that I can still buy a house lol.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's going to be a great car, I'm surprised that Subaru would be offering 1% (financing, or leasing) on a brand new car.
If the 1% interest rate is correct then at least you're not getting hosed with interest, but I do find that surprising as usually first model year brand new cars from Japan tend to have much higher interest rates.

The 1% is from their loyalty program for sticking with Subarus but yea I'm definitely "surprise" as well; don't want to jinx it so hopefully Subaru doesn't pull an exception in June for this one car (currently it applies to all cars). Just hoping by June I have everything I need to make the final decision.

I agree with a street car the FRS/BRZ will most likely perform admirably as most reviews have confirmed. I'm still curious about the performance when pushed on a track, though. To be fair the M3 has a staggered setup and some understeer from the factory probably due to their legal department. I'm just thinking that the amount of negative camber I'd have to dial into the front would cause problems while not cornering like during hard braking.

Anyway, I'll reserve judgement until I actually drive one or see an on-track review.

No one tracks stock cars anyhow so I am sure if you swap the sways, align it and play around with tire pressures the under-steer will be dialed out. Or just drop some cash on coilovers. Or just get a track car...

For anyone who wants to see an FRS in person we will have an FRS here with a rep from Scion Canada on Monday May 7 from 6pm until 8:30pm. The only test drives are reserved for customers who have pre purchased or have a deposit on one subject to test drive, all others can look, touch etc!
