The problem with summer tires isn't necessarily the snow, it's the cold. When you get within a couple of degrees of 0C, the rubber gets hard and you loose traction. This happens wither the road surface is dry, wet or snow covered.
That is a very good point that makes me want to slap my winters on ASAP.
But I'm also conflicted because I've been told that you waste winters faster when they're just on regular asphalt.
And with temperatures in the double digits during the daytime, I'm thinking it's best to wait until Mid Novemberish... or first snowfall, whichever comes first.

Winter tires are OK to about 15 C....especially at lowish speeds.
The high performance summers are really scary close to 0..so watch it in the morning on your way to work if you don't put on snows...
It is inevitable that you need to change them...so earlier is better than later

My RX-8 is very skittish at the front end, I was expecting it at the back being RWD
I slid down stony trail sideways on the way home last night, all ok I got her back after some fishtailing
anyone say” Calgary drift ? “ I'm glade i have winter tires
I was driving my old MX-6 over the last two winters without a problem, of course it’s a FWD and a heaver front end but with all season tires
