Paint damage after Oakville Mazda install! :(

Hey guys,

In my previous post I stated that Oakville Mazda was doing a service and an install for my 8, but after they washed it, I inspected it and found the following damage on my car:

- several large spots (mostly due to the clear coat bubbling and ripping off) on the
right side of my car, near the sunroof and on the rear bumper of my car.
- a dent and several scratches on the right side of my car.

Upon inspection at the Oakville Mazda dealership, I immediately showed it to the service advisors on staff who advised me to e-mail the service manager who will attend to it on Monday. I e-mailed the service manager last night and now I'm waiting for a call from her on Monday to get an answer on what Oakville Mazda will do to repair the damage done to my car.

However, I do want to say that Oakville Mazda is the best dealership that I have gone to for servicing my RX-8 in the Mississauga/Oakville area....they have great service, their prices are fair and they support our RX8club community. I really hope that they will fix the damage done to my car without any hassle so that I can post here what a great dealership it is to own up to a mistake and take care of it for the customer.

I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks and God bless.

Ben.

Well good luck tommorrow, I always go to Oakville mazda and will be taking my car in for its maintence very soon.

I know its abit paranoid but it prevents hassel...I always in the parking lot state the time and date and do a full walk around with my blackberry video camera of the car. That added evidence will make sure they don't deny damage or give you a hard time.

GL and keep us posted

Hey guys, sorry for the delay....so I to my car to Oakville Mazda on my lunch yesterday and the service manager there told me after looking at it that it could have been some sort of dirt or chemical on my car that was on my car for six months as my car sat in the garage and when they washed it, the spots showed. She assures me that they are extremely careful with cars that come in for service.

This makes sense, it could possibly be so, but either way none of us can prove it. So she inspected my car further and noticed rust spots on both rear quarter panels of my car. She said it's covered under warranty and since my car is an '05 (just within the five year period this year), she will check with body shop and have it done under warranty. She also mentioned to me while the car was in the body shop, she would ask them to re-touch the clear coat spots at low cost for me. Overall she was very nice to me and very eager to help take care of my problem.

I'm waiting for an e-mail from her today, so God-Willing everything will be covered under warranty.

I'll keep you guys posted on the progress and thanks so much for all your support.

Ben.

Yea I guess she is right, I couldn't imagine what they could have done to m.ake the clearcoat bubble and peel.

But atleast she's eager to help you inlike most stealerships that will do anything to drain your bank account for their own benefit.

Good luck!

Yeah for sure....the service is exceptional and the service manager (Tiffany) is a really nice person who really cares for her customers and supports us RX8 club members. I would recommend anyone to go to Oakville Mazda for their needs.

Brake fluid for one. As for where you are most likely to get brake fluid splashed onto your roof, if I'm a betting man I'd have to say at a dealership........

By all means let them repaint the rear wheel fender lip for you, I had Avante do it for me a couple years ago. In the long run it is kind of pointless because It is cancer rust, so it will eventually rot again. Mine is starting to look like a 1992 Civic. Oh, and the paint is bubbling big time on my rear quarter panel. So there you go, the RX-8 is only good for about 5 Canadian winters before they get cancer rust. :-(

Yeah....well the service manager is going to see if I can get some rust spots done under warranty and then I think she said she'd work something out about taking care of those clear coat spots while in the body shop. I'll keep you guys posted.

I take my 8 to Oakville Mazda and I've been happy with the service. They installed a MazdaSpeed Cold Air Intake in the spring and I've enjoyed every minute of it...

Much better service than Erin Mills Mazda where I purchased my '08 RX-8...
