Ordering the 8.
I need to put a deposit of $1000 for the order. Is this refundable if I cancel for any reason?
Am I getting a document describing my order when I'll give them the credit card?
When I'll know my VIN#?
The sales person was very vague about delivery dates. Could be November could be later.
How much did you buy the 8? Is there any room for a discount from the dealer? Or maybe I can ask for free accessories?

1. you should verify that with your car dealer. don't know if there's a law that deals with deposits being refundable.
-but it seems that all the posts i've read about deposits have been refundable
2. when i put down a deposit, i was basically given a form that showed what colour, trim level, options i wanted, price - but NO spot #, or estimated date.
3. you'll probably get the VIN when the dealer knows you're getting one for sure. i think US customers get them so early cuz they have so many alloted south of the border whereas Canada only has a fraction and most are spoken for.
4. they should be charging MSRP listed on www.mazda.ca - if not, they're prolly gouging you. don't think there's any room for discount - but they might give you a good deal if you're trading in. never hurts to ask for free stuff, but just don't expect it.

hey jowettw, any chance you getting a RX-8 too in Van?! if so, which dealer you at?
And to answer your questions agisd, jowette pretty much gave you everything, though i pre-ordered back in May, and i still have no VIN # or an update on delievery date, but they did show me the line-up of buyers and told me itz gonna be a long wait! There are over 10 people ordering from my dealership and they only got 2 cars this month! Now i'm really starting to wonder when the 11th guy would get his car! Next year January? I do recommend you to call around first and see if you can get one that nobody wants, like Gord and Mango, they both got their 8 now and there is no need to wait! But if waiting time isn't an issue then i still recommend seeking a low line-up dealer!

hey.
i'm in no rush to get one right now. i'm on the list in port moody. apparently i'm #9 when i put down the deposit - but not holding my breath --> dealer could let his buddies jump the queue ... i actually tried to do this too, but no one i knew had a mazda connection.
oh well. it'll be that much sweeter when my *** is driving an RX.
