Its very hard to "fudge" a credit application. The financial institutions usually require proof of income etc. Just becuase your on disbility doesnt mean you have no or low income. We have seen some disablilty income in the 3-4K per month range. Like I said in another forum, I think that this was the final one that went to the media. If there had been no other complaints and no record of any issues I doubt this all would have finished the way it did. Just my opinion

Good point, but there are things they can do. In all your years at a dealership, you've never seen an F&I guy "accidentally" inflate the price of a used vehicle for the benefit of the customer, or enter a lien on a trade in that didn't exist, etc?

The Star article said:
"...Leonard should not have qualified for a loan from the dealer because her monthly income including a disability pension is less than $2,000."

Beyond fudging the credit application, do you have any theories as to how she was approved for a ~$800-1100/month payment? There was a $8k payment due at the end, is it possible this was a variation on a used car lease scheme, thus the creditor's risk was reduced due to increased ability to reposes?

The only time that anything like that happens is when it is fully disclosed to the customer when covering a lien etc. We actually have a seperate form we make the customer sign disclosing every aspect if there is negative equity involved.

I can tell you that we have never intentionally inflated someones income to get them qualified....................I have had many deals cancel after a customer cannot prove the income that they disclosed to us lol

Finally got a chance to head out to the Orangeville Mazda dealership today, lol

All the Mazda signs are covered up,
All the Mazda cars have been moved to a make shift lot in the back,
The gate and the doors are all locked up, nobody is home.

Boooyaaaa

edit: Guess I shouldn't be too happy. I'm sure some of the people that worked there were nice enough, I feel bad that they seem to be out of job.

Case against former car dealership postponed

A hearing on charges against a now defunct Orangeville car dealership and two former employees has been delayed until next month.

In April, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) charged Mazda of Orangeville and two of its sales people with “unfair practice” stemming from an incident in which an unemployed woman, who is receiving a disability pension, was allegedly sold a used car for “well in excess” of what a new car of the same model costs.

A hearing date has been set for Wednesday, July 7.

Orangeville Mazda under new Management

Motion Mazda
Well obviously the dealership looks the same except that have gotten rid of all the used cars in the front lot.

Tonnes of new Mazda's in the front lot, but not as many cars as previously so you can at least part somewhere. It was way too crowded before.

A lot of new faces even in the Service area. I tried to see if any of the older Technicians made the transition, I couldn't tell.

So anyone in the Dufferin area might be interested in this, and its the reason why I went in to Motion Mazda.

(I'm going to start another thread to give it some direct attention)

Motion Mazda in Orangeville is giving away free oil changes to anyone with a Mazda for the remainder of 2010.

So I'm going in Monday at 1pm to see how things go.
I'm also bringing the car in totally mod'd out ... just to see what they say.

It should be interesting.
