New Vancouver RX8 Club!
Greetings everyone in Vancity!
I just picked up an RX8 about a month and a half ago and am loving it emensely
While searching around on the net this is the only major RX8 site I have come across with any reference to vancouver but still doesn't have a section entirely devoted to our niche.
That being said, I would like to find out who is in Vancouver that would be interested in starting a new Vancity club exclusively for RX8 owners.
I consider myself quite able to design, develop and host a website for the new club and register the domain as well. There are quite a few that I have looked at that are available.
Please email me at nathan@nathanbrown.ca and post a message here to let everyone else know that the new vancity rx8 club movement has started!

We are currently in the process of forming a Club, deciding on logo, name etc, places for sponsorship and discounts.
Please, check the Canada forum here and check our other topics on this subject to get a clearer idea on what is already in the works.
If our ideas are coinciding with yours, please feel free to let us know, and to come out when we meet up to finalize things, We would be happy for more input, and more support.
Hope to hear from ya, and see ya when we meet up next, later...

As Hitmann mentioned, the previous club thread looked as though it was a rotary club. I read some mention of even having a bike model in it as well.
In any case, I want to do strictly a RX8 2004 & for the future 2007 RX8 convertable and sport model.
If anyone is interested in joining a Vancouver RX8 Club let me know.

Sounds like an idea, however, leaving the past rotaries behind seems wrong in my opinion, they are amazing cars as well, and to forget them from a rotary based club, rx8 or not, seems wrong to me, just my thoughts, but if the majority is in decision for only 8's, well, then that is majority rules, but, if it goes all rotary, I dont think you should rule it out because FD's and FB's as well as FC's are great cars, and can give us one hell of a run for our money, hehe
Dont overlook the work being done so far, or the feelings of the rotary community in the pursuit of a Club.
One Club can accomodate all.
But as I said, if majority rules, then so be it.

I am glade someone is interested in starting a new Rx-8 club in Vancouver.
I believe the club should focus on -
1) Group Purchase
2) Owner Experience
3) Dealing with Dealership on Warranty issues
4) Maintenance Tips - and prefer vender programs
5) Group Event - such as - Day Trip to Whistler, BBQ, Go-Kart race, etc.
I have hosting space and have knowledge in graphic design. If I can be of help, let me know. My email address is vchiu28@gmail.com

I made a thread and posted this, looks like there might be a few folks from here going. Fifteen of them are signed up as well ATM.
The organizer also personally invited rx8clubbers when I mentioned that I posted it on this site. Quote from the original post:

Alright, you guys have been pestering me long enough to have another meet so here we are. We're gonna try something different this time, it'll take a bit more but it's going to be fun as all hell. We're going to do a Cannonball Style run from Langley all the way to North Vancouver with stops along the way in Coquitlam and Burnaby.
Some of the locations are going to have alternate meeting points in case of rain because you never know what's going to happen around here. The first meeting place will be in Walnut Grove at Colossus like previous meets have been. If the weather isn't cooperating there is a covered parking lot across the street from the north end of the parking lot at the Sportplex. It is clearly viewable from the usual meeting place in the Colossus parking lot so it should be easy enough to find for those of you unfamiliar with the area. We will all meet up there at 11:30pm and hang out, say our hellos and fraternize for 15 minutes while we wait for any stragglers before we head to the next meeting point.
The second meeting point will be at Ikea in Coquitlam again. There is both covered and uncovered parking there so the weather won't bother us there again. Anyone from that area that doesn't feel like making the trek out to Langley can meet up with each other there. We are planning to have our Langley caravan there by approximately 12:15am. Since anyone meeting up there will already have had time to hang out and chit chat we will wait for 5 minutes for any stragglers and then depart to our 3rd destination.
The 3rd location will be in Burnaby. If the weather is nice we can meet in the Brentwood Mall parking lot. Unfortunately to my knowledge there isn't any underground parking there so the backup plan is just down the street where Still Creek Dr. passes underneath Willingdon Ave, there's enough room to park some cars on the side of the street and not interfere with traffic. Attached is a map of the general location. If anyone has a better idea of a nearby covered place for us to meet in case of rain please PM me the location because posting your ideas in the thread just causes discussion and criticism and we don't need that cluttering up the thread. If all goes according to plan then we should be there by about 12:35pm.
After we pick up the last group of people there it's off to our final location. Park Royal Shopping Mall in North Vancouver. Once there we can all park in a big group and talk more and share stories about different ways our money pits have hurt us and how we still love them for some unknown reason.
Bring your cameras, bring your friends if you want. Other cars are welcome to join if they want but are expected to be respectful as well as us. I understand we all get together and people will want to have some fun and what not, that's fine. Just don't be an idiot, don't put yourself in a position where you can harm another member or their car and don't bring any negative attention to us.

Starting a new BC RX-8 club would be great!
I'm a web designer/developer, so if you have a domain name and hosting space, I can probably whip something up pretty quick.
I actually have the source files (not the forum) for the previous club website. They were passed on to me by it's webmaster, Gyro_Bot. Some of the info from the old site can possibly be used for the new one.

^Thats awesome. Do you think we'll have enough of us to warrant a bcrx8 site? Why did vancityrx8.com fold?
Also bcrotary.com has a pretty good user base, but nothing on rx-8's. Maybe if enough of us were on there they would add some rx8 forums? Either way a new BC rx8 club is a very good idea. I don't have any l33t internetz skills but I'd be willing to help.

Hello beansbaxter, I am so glade we could get this project going. If you have the expertise, I have the hosting space. I have spaces on Brinkster.com that could handle PHP, Java, flash and etc. All I request in return is that you could give me a few pointers on how to get my “php” site running again. All codes are correct, but it just won’t start.
I am more of a designer.
Let’s meet up.
Cannonball run sounds real fun, I will try to show up.

My thoughts are that we might want to stay as a sub-group to the rotary club... this way if our number grows thin we don't have to close down the club like previously happened. We can have exclusive meetings as well as rotary ones.
