I want to get the lastest tune update from Jeff...if theres any.

Footman 04-14-2010 04:42 PM

Kafka, did your tune improve your fuel economy and/or power numbers? Do you have some numbers to back up?

My fuel economy goes down a little bit I think...from 370 to 350+ before 50L fuel light up...

Dyno...I don't have before (yeah its kinda stupid), I do have the basic tune at 174 vs the tuned one @ 178 max...while it got 1-2 less hp from 4-6k range and 1-2 more at 7-8k range in the dyno...

Not just about fuel economy and HP. With Cobb and tuning, engine seems smoother with no hesitations anywhere in the powerband...

BlackStealth 04-15-2010 09:35 AM

I'd be interested if the date was by the end of this month - the sooner the better

Jedi54 04-15-2010 09:50 AM

Mazdamaniac is allowed in Canada?! Since when?
Did you guys here about what happened last time he was there???

nate340 04-15-2010 10:03 AM

umm no?

He brought too many hot girls to the dyno tune day and was ticketed for awesomeness lolz

tubingchamp 04-15-2010 12:00 PM

I'm curious as well because I want him to get over to B.C. :D

TheWulf 05-21-2010 11:30 AM

Bump... any more interest?

Come on people don't be cheap!

edit: Got us another one... that's at least 6. Would be good to get to 10.

wcs 05-21-2010 01:47 PM

Ok I'm in

TheWulf 05-21-2010 01:53 PM

Excellent.

If any of you guys have friends with MS3 or MS6 feel free to let them know about this as well as Jeff can tune them too.

Chad D. 05-25-2010 05:47 PM

I will need a date b4 I can be all in, but most likely I am into the event!

I'll most likely get a Cobb for this.

TheWulf 06-03-2010 12:45 PM

OK guys I think we have more than enough people to get the ball rolling.

I've been looking at it and we can easily do this for cheap. For about $460 we can get Jeff a flight right into TO (well, Mississaugua) or if the date we settle on has bad prices we can do Buffalo for less and someone can go pick him up. Then hotel for a few days shouldn't be too bad. I expect a grand total of no more than $100 per person to split the travel costs (probably around $75-$80) which is less than last year!

Right now I am thinking July 10th or 17th. Jeff, do you want to comment on your availability?

Thanks all!

edit: updated first post with current info!

MazdaManiac 06-03-2010 12:50 PM

I can do either weekend, but the 17th is better.

Chad D. 06-03-2010 09:26 PM

I booked the 17th of July off in January for some unknown reason!! Weird. I hope it's the 17th.//
Our Loonie is very strong versus the greenback this year also!//
I need to get this cel removed and a tune.

shaojie1984 06-04-2010 02:20 AM

Mazda_RX804 06-04-2010 02:31 AM

Your best deal is to buy it from Jeff @ www.mazdamaniac.com, this way you save $200 on the tuning.

Added 2 more people to the interest list.

I found a nice spot to dyno but it's a tad pricey, $150/hour (Dasilva Racing). I will keep looking but everyone please be ready to send me a deposit very soon for the dyno and Jeff's travel costs.

If anyone is interested in a dyno only (no tuning) please post your interest as well!

Wulf you wanna get to 200rwhp eh? :P

How much for tune/dyno only? I purchased the MM Cobb back in 2008 and got tuned...Just wondering if there are any new updated maps for the normal NA tune?

Thanks Jeff.

TheWulf 06-04-2010 12:41 PM

Kafka: I'm pretty sure once the midpipe is on and I get tuned I will be over 200, despite the back that I got rid of my exhaust. Should be over 210 once the BHR exhaust hits the market :). Then again I don't really care much about the number, a well tuned ride is most important.

Tune can be purchased online from Jeff @ Mazdamaniac.com, look for the (MazdaManiac Custom Calibration ServiceŽ) at the bottom of the page.
EDIT: See post #1 -- Jeff is giving $100 off for this event!

I will have costs for you guys very very soon, probably today. I nailed down a great dyno spot and I'm working out the rest of the details with Jeff.

TheWulf 06-05-2010 12:12 AM

Details are up!

Slots will be available on a first come first serve basis. Please read the first post for details and send payment when ready. As soon as I collect enough money to pay the deposits, I will book everything.

TheWulf 06-05-2010 06:05 PM

RotorWheeee: Got it, thanks, but you forgot to add the Paypal fees :) You'll need to send me an additional $5.85 USD (including the fees for this add'l transaction) OR I can refund you and you can send back US$180.38 which is the correct amount with paypal fees.

Booking you in!

shaojie1984 06-05-2010 08:17 PM

Book me for 1:30-3:00

TheWulf 06-05-2010 09:40 PM

Thank you, booked.

Guys, please send paypal fees with your paypal payments... working the calculator after this much rum is unpleasant ;)

shaojie1984: remember FI guys take 2 slots so your payments are 2x - deposit too. Sending you a PM with details for missing fees.

Also everyone remember to send your rx8club name in the message of your payments. Thanks :)

lol.
Get some pineapple and put it on a pizza and you have a party!

TheWulf 06-09-2010 08:50 AM

Only 6 spots left!

If we get 2 more this thing is a for-sure as it would only be an extra $25 each with 8 people.
EDIT: My math here is wrong disregard!

I am extending the invitation to Speed3 owners today so please book soon to avoid disappointment.

djvinniev77 06-09-2010 09:17 AM

I'm in!

pricing and everything is cool, I will send paypal out your way. Need to get my '05 8 tuned right and was looking for the AP purchase anyway. HOOK ME UP!!

djvinniev77 06-09-2010 09:55 AM

payment sent, want the 11 - 12 slot plz! :P

TheWulf 06-09-2010 10:01 AM

Done! PM'ed you the link for the AP discount.

5 slots left guys and still 10 people interested :) I know there's at least one Speed 3 that already told me for sure just waiting on the payment...

If anyone else needs to order an AP for this event you need to let me know so I can PM you the link for the discounted AP.

You also need to let me know if you need to purchase just the MMCCS (if you already have an AP) at the discounted rate.

edit: We will all likely be going out for beers afterward, I will re-post more information about this when we are closer to the meet date.

Kafka 06-09-2010 03:56 PM

I will drop by and say high since I already got tuned by Jeff in person in 2008...and I know my rx8 is slow I don't wanna know how slow/less slow it has become since 2008 hahaha

TheWulf 06-11-2010 07:42 AM

Sounds good! anyone is welcome to drop by and say hi and come for beers after.

5 slots left! Realistically we need at LEAST 2-3 more to make it worthwhile. Here is the breakdown for additional cost if we don't sell out (US$):

7 people: $72 <-- We are here
8 people: $50
9 people: $33
10 people: $20
11 people: $9
12 people: $0
(basically: Jeff's cost is $1200 for up to 12 cars = $100 ea, less than 12 add the amount above)

So I am counting on you guys to help recruit 5 more. Remember this is open to Speed3s as well. I'm sure Jeff will also welcome anyone with an AP. I'm sure the spots will fill up before the event but I like getting shit done early so git'r done!

Oh yea, I booked the dyno and sent Jeff the deposit so this is happening regardless :)

TheWulf 06-14-2010 08:15 AM

Alright you people drive a hard bargain...

I am offering a BONUS to anyone who books a dyno + tune before July 1st: FREE COMPRESSION TEST!

This includes everyone who already booked. At any point during the dyno day, you are welcome to use my TR-01 compression tester and do a compression test. I'll also have a vacuum gauge handy if you want to test your engine vacuum.

Anyone who is not getting tuned can get a compression test done for $40, and this will help cover the costs for everyone, it is not going in my pocket.

So you waited out for a better deal, now you have one. So SIGN UP!
