Awesome. I've been craving a nice bento if no one else minds me ordering one. I had AYCE sushi last night. I also don't mind splitting dishes.

Time is now 730 for dinner. Thanks. Just note that because lots of people are maybes. We will only ask for table of x amount of people plus 2 at 730 for whomever the amount of people actually turn up.
Umm I would like to come by too, but I dont know where on Hwy 7 that street is. Could somebody post the address for the restaraunt or timmies so I could come? Lol. Also im about to go to sleep so Im not sure if im going to make dinner. Haha

Thanks for showing up everyone. Great turn out. Next up is St. Louis wing meet.
List of attendance:
1) Thief
2) HomePC
3) Maitre
4) CL_S
5) maRs (R is capitalized for RX-8)
6) Footman
7) Darklight9
8) Maffu313 + gf
9) Rx8_Druggist
Just want to let the others know and all new people, this is not a CLOSED GROUP. You don't have to be "in the group" to participate. We aren't like the civic people as I found out from Darklight9... welcome to all new members and also any existing members from the west.
So there is no need to be asking questions like "should I come?"
I know a lot of west-enders don't come because it's too far. Everytime we try to make something centralized, it never seems to work unfortunately. But I really hope the west-enders can come out to some of these.

"List of attendance", love it.
Why do you always have to mention who shows up and not?
Have you travel to the west side? And yes it is far for the west guy to go to the east. Too far for a $1.70 coffee while Timmie is at every corner.
But Congrat on this successful meet.

I just got back from vacation last night (Florida sooo warm) or I would have made this event.
I'm should be working from home for the next month, I'll try and make it out to one of these meets.
I'll bring my own drinks if you don't mind
For the record, I try to hit up west side meets, whenever I can manage. (And make no mistake, it's not like I make it to every Markham meet!) At the end of the day, it's not worth going crazy far, each time you hear about a meet. But if there's a solid attendance going and/or you're just in the mood for a meet anyway, I always figure it's worth keeping your Friday night flexible.

A list of attendance after an event does several things. First as Maitre points out, it legitimatizes the event as it had happened (follow up), and allows people who might not have a chance to talk to everyone put a name to the face.
It also encourages others to show up when they say they're going to because if you say you're going and you don't, your name isn't gonna be on that list. We now have a record of you and we know who the flakes are. I know this sounds counter-encouraging because it seemingly sounds like you're being punished, but it has to be done to stop the epidemic of no-shows we have in the GTA area when events are being organized. It is frustrating for the planner and those who plan to come to see high attrition rates.
On top of that, it's just bad practice to say you're coming and then don't show. THere is a big difference between "I will be there" and "I might be able to come". A lot of people are saying "I maybe able to come". NOw as the organizer, this is very helpful because whatever event you're planning, you can essentially plan the "maybe's" as "won't comes" which helps a lot predict the TRUE ATTENDANCE ratio expected.
This in the end results in a lower attrition rate because it's anticipated better.

I have been to the west side. Not for a $1.70 coffee meet. This meet was for dinner at a sushi place. Definitely more than a $1.70.
Have you ever organized an event?
Have you ever organized an event?
There is definitely a divide between the "eastenders" and the "westenders"... the problem is high gas prices thats preventing the two sides from meeting each other that often.
No one really wants to go to a Friday night parking lot meet and spend $20 on fuel going there and back. That's the issue, and the centralized meets aren't working either because it just means EVERYONE is spending $10 - $15 on fuel just to get to a parking lot meet with a $1.40 coffee from Tim Hortons..
And yes I have organized a few meet. I understand some people have other things to do. If they come, good. If not, no sweat. Not gonna bitch about it. Thats why I don't do dinner meet. That way if less people show up, it doesn't screw everything up. I think by putting a show up list after put the non show on the spot, so next time they are not even gonna think about showing up. This whole meet idea is suppose to be pressure-free, enjoy the moment kinda thing. Not Work or school where you have to show up if you say so.
