Lunch time lapping may 7 or 8th mosport

Guys, I'd like to apologize for being a total douche bag yesterday. One of my coil started frying and throwing flashing CEL everywhere, I had to short shift at 7k and it just never drove right. I should have pulled off earlier instead of holding up the pack. I really felt bad about it. Next time I'll follow the Corolla.

the only douchebags are bimmer drivers with gelled hair and aviator sunglasses. I saw the ultimate douche pack on Saturday. It was a convertible 3-series with 4 doods inside. All wearing aviator style glasses riding with top down and blasting music.. can't get douchier than that

Hi everyone,
It was a pleasure as always organizing the day, we kind of have it down to a science now lol. The pace was actually faster than before other than the backstraight speed, I found that keeping it down kept everyone together pretty well and allowed for more agressive corner speeds. I figured out why the Scion wouldnt accelerate up the backstraight.....................the 19 inch wheels and tires were 1 inch taller than stock there by killing the final drive ratio lol. Bemc will have us back in the fall if everyone wants to go, the date should be September 18, 2011. If anyone took pics pleasepost them I would also like to send some to Scion Canada.
btw I looked under the TC today and the only mods were TRD springs! That little car handled amazing for a front drive car. If anyone wants to volunteer an R3 for the pace car next time I would love to try one at the big track lol.

Thanks for organizing! I'll think about volunteering my R3 next time. The suspension has been changed drastically though if you care. It'd be nice to see what it can do in the hands of a more capable driver

hey guys - sorry I was meaning to post my in-car video on youtube or something so you can all watch but i shot it in 1080p so its like 1 gig ... I'm not really keen on blowing apart my bandwidth and uploading it multiple times... errm if there's a meet coming up in the next few days I can swing by with my laptop and you guys can bring USB keys or sth for a file transfer?
edit: @ Al - im not sure how to get the video to you ... its def way too big to move around online. It's also been a long long long time since my dad and I made a trip to Woodbine Toyota lol. If you're making a pit stop near 16th and Woodbine any time soon bring a USB key or sth and i'll gladly transfer the file to ya !

Thank you for the offer of the R3 that would be very cool indeed. Did anyone take any pictures of the cars that were there?? It would be nice to see a big group picture that I can send to Scion Canada and my pal at Mazdaspeed USA.

Oh what is this? A video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6hRW15gOwc
I quickly chopped the first 5 mins and the last 5 mins of my recording in into one video. My recording ended early since I only had 1Gb of memory. Computer shops were closed and I bought the camera the day before.
I have some photos, will post soon once I can touch them up.

Yeah, I was at the rear so it was like a game of broken telephone haha. Still a great experience and I got to test my suspension to see if holds up to track abuse. Perhaps we can get a camera in or behind the pace car next time so we can document the proper race line.

In reality the proper race line differs slightly from car to car. If you watch the vid i posted on one of the previous pages that line works for that car, because the roughness that you dont even feel in a street car upsets the RX7's goofy suspension lol. The biggest difference is not leaving the inside wide open on each corner because if you do a car thatis slightly slower can capitalize on that opening and sneak past you getting into the corner and then you will waste a lot of valuable time getting past them again.

That is a good vid.. but it seems the pack was being held up by either the grey 8 or the black one? There are so many parts where you can't even see the next car beyond the black 8.
What was the hold up?
I think I saw the first 4 cars for the beginning of the run, and then you can't even see us anymore...
I know some of the other guys had vid cams too. Where are those vids?
It was a great day. Perfect weather for letting the cars stretch their legs.

Oh Al I saw the woodbine scion "toaster" car driving down McCowan today :P ! I waved to the driver but I don't think he recognized my 8 from Mosport lol.

I guess you have to be a certain age to understand what the fascination is with BMW. My old man has a 323. Weve taken the driver course a few years back.
I guess I'll never understand those cars. I much prefer the japanse vehicles. Specifically the rotaxes.
BMW is not the ultimate driving machine. I would refer to them as the alternative driving machine.
What ever floats your boat. :-)

Wasnt me driving lol the car belongs to Scion Canada and we returned it Monday May 9 lol. As far as ultimate driving its different for everyone. I am not a big fan of the German car mystique. I had a 2011 Mitsubishi Evo with the 6spd twin clutch gear box at the DDT track at Mosport yesterday. This car had 1400km on it and was stock right to the tires. There were 20 other cars out the only car I couldnt pass was a Porsche GT3 RS. I could keep up but not pass. My personal ultimate driving machine is either a Z06 Vette which I could probably afford a 2-3 year old one and with no dollar amount the Ferrari 599. You can argue back and forth but remember this is an opinion, I just dont buy into the BMW or Porsche mystique.
