The supercharger makes this car the fastest 4-door car under 30 grand in the world in 97 so all you guys bashing these cars should own one before you all talk! :preachon:

Bone stock the older style GTP is halfway decent but lasting 250,000 miles? That's a challenge for ANY car. But I will say if you're looking to mod a FWD car that's not an import its a good way to go. There are a lot of GP guys running some very impressive numbers. But a stock GTP against a stock 8 in a straight line? I'm gonna say no.

hey skip, ebaums too. regarding those GP, they are ok but thats about it, and i'm just sayin this b/c my friend put a tubo the size of a mellon on it and is fast but he is on his 4th or 5th tranny cause he refuses to turn it down, but ya FWD is pritty lame. Neo on the other hand u have to come by my work, and see the S600 it finally got the chips, we can go for a spin(it don't run 10's like the GP , only 11's, sorry) but still a nice car.

tlovr out

I owned a 2000 grand prix GT (non supercharged but same engine) Loved the car and it would still ahd a fair amount of pickup. I almost bought a GTP a couple times do to wanting more power and still loving the car. I drove one a few times and stock it would probably keep up with the 8 off the line. beat it? possibly. if so, it would be incredibaly close. automatic 8...probably. road course? no way in hell, handling was great, but not rx8 great.

As I was looking at buying them I was also looking at what people were doing to them and damn, they were getting some good numbers. There have been many upgrades made for the car (I think the last time I checked there were kits availiable up to stage 6. along with a turbo kit that was released just before I was looking at trading up. I can't really see this guy getting into the 10's but it has been awhile since I looked at the stuff. I can definately say if he is running that fast, there is no way in hell those parts are going to last him 250,000 miles.

Instead of going to a GP GTP I got an 06 G6 GTP (3.9 V6) this engine was putting out the same amount of hp the 97-03 GP GTP had for those years. and close to the same weight. My car was automatic with tap shift and I was able to gain a little on a rx8 from a standstill. Far from anything concrete, just my experience/ thoughts.

I still love the GP and G6 but this guy sounds like a ricer with a domestic car.

like, im not making fun of the car, just the fact he claims hes can beat "the imports in the twisties"... and if his car runs 10s in the 1/4.. there is NO way he can handle that well on a road track.. also..
that means he can beat, a awd skylne, evo, Sti, rx7, rx8, Ect ect...

Come on now, you know very well that any 10 second car will beat anything on a road course...I mean come on, he may have to slow to 20 to take a turn, but he can sure accelerate quick .
