Got mine back yesterday. Did the 420F recall. Did not notice much of a difference and there was not feedback from teh dealership.

Do your dealerships wash you car? I saw a Protege and a Miata being washed but they never wash my 8.

i think in most cases, we the members on this site know more about the "inside" problems and information then the teck support and service at the dealerships. it has been countless times where i have gone to mazda dealerships and had to educate them on what is really going on with our cars. Personally, im going to wait till it becomes a consenses with all of the dealerships or i get a letter stating the fact of a recall. Im not chasing them to do it until it becomes a notisable problem. Oil change is in 3500km, ill have them look at it then.

Went in yesterday for scheduled maint. They surprized me and asked me I wanted to have th ereacll done. "Sure" I said.

I passed. They topped up my tank (If I woulda known I woulda got there with a bone dry tank.) They washed my car too, with that stupid scratchy wash brush I might add.

Anyway I'm just glad that the car had no issues. Heck sometimes I wonder if I even have the same car as some of you guys do. I get relatively good mileage, I hardly burn any oil and it's never flooded. Must be a yellow thang.

Well it looks like I may be the first victim. I took my '04 (bought in '03) with 72000km and the dealer told me I need my engine replaced. I'm actually quite happy about that. The last 2 weeks the engine light was flashing and I was losing power in almost any gear between 4500 and 5500 rpm. I'll keep you guys posted on what's happening!

Well, just booked an oil change for Friday at Brampton Mazda, after being 20 minutes on hold

I asked about any recalls. I was asked if I had any "driveability" issues, which I answered the truth (no). He said not to worry, we "only do this test if there are driveability issues."

Maybe if 84Racing (dealer GM) sees this, he can shed some light.

He hasn't answered my PM's either when questioned about the recall. He's gone quiet.

Guys, what other symptoms have you noticed? I cant say definetivly but i'm nearly certain yesterday when I started the car, i think the engine coolant light came back on, but i wasnt really paying attention...so I dont know if its just the car going through its normal start sequence, or if in fact the coolant is low...it was just in on Sept. 14 for the 32k servicing too......

My coolant light came on too, it's been a while that's it does this. Once in a while it stay on for a few seconde and then disapear, I don't think it's anything serious because it turn Off by itself after a few second anyway?! I have 56 000km on my RX8 and still running perfect....BTW It take one hour to do an oil change on my car here in the UK and it's cost £89.00 @ 2.11 exchange = $187.79cdn!!

You guy's are lucky in Canada !!

I was born in Portugal, so I know that everything's 3x the price in Europe...which sucks. Canada is good, but the real lucky ones are Americans, cars are way cheaper, as is everything else...like guns and crack

Hey Rufnek I'm gonna drop my car off at Scarboro tomorrow as well. Did you have to ask for courtesy car? And can you let me know if you got your gas filled up?

Got a call few mins ago.

Tony from Mazda Scarb called me up, said I need new plugs as it still had the ORIGINAL plugs in and they have sinced changed.
Going to take an extra day to get them in stock so my 8 will be there at least until tomorrow.

I didn't ask about the gas, but i am getting the wash.

Also, he gave me a rental car from the Enterprise rental joint right beside the dealership.

Rufnek, did they just do the recall, or did you ask and / or complain about poor driveability?

I just got the recall done today, at Avante Mazda. They checked the plugs, cat, performed a vacuum test and reprogramed the PCM. Everything passed, which doesn't surprise me the way I baby the car. The new flash doesn't seem any different. But if its supposed to help the car then I'm all for it.
FYI--they didn't fill the tank or wash the car. But I'm not concerned. When I get the recall letter if it says they are supposed to do that then the next time I get it serviced I will ask them to do it. They are a great service department. So I'm not concerned.

Got the letter today, don't know if I will do the recall now or just in the spring. I have to take a day off work the mazda dealer is not close. I'm a bit leary about getting the PCM reprogrammed, my car runs great, doesn't burn much oil and gets great gas mileage (500 to 600 kms per tank). I don't want to change that combination. So I'm asking the people that have done the work is there any change in gas mileage etc.

I wouldn't do it until they have a car for you. I'm bringing mine in for an oil change tomorrow and do the recall at the same time. It was planned earlier in the week and Mazda confirmed a courtesy car too. I also just happen to get my letter today. I'm a little pissed that they (Mazda Cananda) told me by phone when I called that the recall had nothing to do with engine replcement like in the US. Now I read the letter and they definitely mentioned "engine" as a potential replacement. If the engine is an issue then how come we don't get the 1yr warranty extension??? Shouldn't we rally and get a petition going or something???

Chasvo, the US had a 4 year warranty, so the extra year only bumped them up to our standard. Still, if they got something, then we should too.

Anyhoo, just got the letter tonight, recall 4206F. Lets see if they'll do it on my oil change tomorrow.
