insurnace an 18 year old
ive been looking into buying an rx8 for a while now just curious about canadian insurance im with td insurance live in ontario canada just wondering how the policy would work. i have 2 cars in my family 1 udner my mom and 1 under my dad if i bought a third car which would be the rx8 would it have to be under my name? and if so how much would it be approximatly? is there anyway of placing it under my dads name so i can only pay secondary driving fees? any advice helps thank you

I think we should use the money towards Phonics, or stay in school a bit longer???

You said any advice helps so here I go:
Buy a cheap manual car and learn to drive stick, and learn to drive a car. You're 18, even though you think you're a good driver - you're very inexperienced. Buy an 8 when your 25 and more experienced and hopefully a more mature individual.
I know I probably sound like a dick, but I was in your shoes when I bought a Turbo Supra and nearly killed 3 people including myself.

Just curious here. Are you paying for the car ? Or are your parents buying it for you ? If youre paying for it and have saved up well earned money, i say go for it. If your parents are buying it for you, different story. Also do you have a job to pay for gas, maintenance and insurance ?

Yea get a 5 speed civic and possibly save some lives. I know it's hard to think about not having your dream car.
But believe me as a man with some experience in the matter. Its not worth the risks. Please hear me on this, its not worth it.
You got a long life ahead of you I'm sure. Please exercise some patience with this matter.
Think of your parents getting a call at 3 am that their 18 year old son died in a car accident. They could have prevented that by not letting you get that car. They will live out a life of misery and depression form that point forward.
It's really not worth the chance of that happening. Don't worry you'll have plenty of opportunity to look cool later in life.
FYI the RX-8 does not get you women.

Let him do what he wants...
$12 an hour job ain't gonna pay squat when it comes to a car loan, insurance, fuel, and I assume he's going to get an 04, maintenance since the car probably has near or over 100K.
Plus he's gotta pay for school on top of that, and if he's already trying to impress hi friends, you know he's going to mod it, with such popular like the tornado fuel saver and the vortex generators. Plus tossing sum loads to impress the ladies.
You don't need this car, you want it. Fuel is going to kill you in this car, and I doubt you can get OSAP, if you are, with a RX-8 under your name.
Don't rely on your parents, learn to be independent, then get the car, who knows the RX-7 might get rebooted.

Quick Calculations here:
Fuel will cost you ~$350-400 a month (if gas prices stay constant). Insurance ~$200 a month (since you're young). And let's say your car costs you $300 a month to pay off your loan.
That's ~$900 a month.
You'll earn ~ $7k in the summer working 40hr weeks for 16 weeks.
That'll easily run out in about 7 months including the summer. That means you'll be able to keep the car for three months afterwards during university.
I'm not even counting the maintenance and the fact that on the side, you'll want to go out, eat, etc.
I'd wait, or get a beater instead. At least you can still brag that you HAVE a car in university.
