Gasoiline brands and cleaniness and ethanol and premix...
sorry for the thread title, it's the best I could come up with =p
Trying to figure out which gas is the cleanest, and doesn't contain ethanol.
From my research the only top tier gasoline providers that seem to be readily available across Canada are Shell and Petro Canada
Others can be found here:
http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html
Now from what I understand this means their gas burns much cleaner, leaving less deposits, and this can have an impact on engine life and fuel pump filter life.
I also know that Shell doesn't use ethanol in 91 Vpower, I cannot say about anyone else.
Now, where do the other brands stack up? Especially the discount brands like Safeway, superstore, and Canadian Tire.
For example, Superstore in Manitoba offers 15c/L in superbucks, which = pretty good savings when buying things from superstore.
How clean is their gas, do they add ethanol to their 91 octane gas?
Would using more premix help the deposits that can form in the engine and in the fuel pump filter? (My guess depending on the premix yes for the deposits in the engine and no for the fuel pump filter).
Anyone want to shed some light on their experiences? Or if someone knows much more about gasoline composition (StealthTL I'm looking in your general direction) please chime in =D

Premix makes the problem worse. That's why you should up the amount of fuel cleaner if you use a premix. I use a mixture of Redline SI-1 fuel cleaner and their racing 2-stroke motorcycle premix.
