gas gouging has started!

with the threat of hurricane Rita, gas prices, of course, were expected to rise. go to http://www.gasbuddy.com to see various prices across the country.

184.0 @ Olco in Fort Erie, Ontario
179.9 @ Irving in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

although other places seem to have moderate increases (although i still believe the gas/oil companies are gouging us beyond belief)

although there are LOTS of rumours going around that its going up.... some people have said as high as 3$ a litre....

i dont believe that though

edit: all the super-duper high ones seem to be disappearing. although there is a picture on CTV's website that shows a girl filling up at 167.4

Go to www.torontogasprices.com to see what the prices really are....

I just checked and Markham and Newmarket are $1.04/liter for regular.

I'm sure it will go up this weekend though

Obviously the CEOs at the gas companies don't drive rotary cars :D

and for our american friends, that converts too:

1 US Gallon = 3.7854118 Litres

1 US $ ~ 1.16 CA $

that means that we will be paying about 6.53 a gallon!!!!!

and we arent getting hit by the hurricane! well, at least not meteorologically

I filled up last night in stouffvile for the regular 114.1/L for premium. NO big deal. I waited only about 5 minutes before getting to the pump.

thankfully these rumors didnt prove to be true, at least not here, yet.... but it was hell trying to get to any gas station last night, they were all packed like crazy, especially in my end of town, since it was below 1$

We filled up yesterday using the company car and we were a bit suprise.

Sign says 179.9

but the pump says 104.3.

We went to this gas station because there was no line up and was not our money to spend anyway. We were suprised what this gas station was doing.

they could have been trying to keep hold of their stock... ive heard a few people around here say that too. that some stations have the price showing as really high, but once you get to the pump, its a different story....

at least its not what was predicted/rumoured to happen. and now with the hurrican starting to fall apart and not hit the refineries as hard as predicted, that should hopefully bring prices down again....

I'd be interested in finding out who everyone thought is responsible for these price increases: The Station owner or the oil company like Imperial Oil etc.
