I don't have anything to install, but would still love to stop by if it's not too crowded already.

Yeah i'll bring the snips and something a little more gentle for working on the bumper.

Looks like my work list has changed a little for Saturday. I'm going to be leaving the Vfad in and putting the stock air filter back in. They think that it may be part of my problems.....

I'm not too sure how long i can stick around, probably till 3 so i hope Greg shows up with our plugs

It could be...I have read that ppl don't like the K&N v2 because it sucks in hot air from the engine which affects performance. Hks looks similar. Will be a good test. But if you have had the VFab in the whole time with the hks then it really isn't going to get much cold air.

marc, his problems arent power related. his problem is the engine shutting off under hard braking. Some warm air wont cause that. Also, the VFAD wont prevent cold air from coming in. it still sucks in cool air from the front bumper, its just half shut until you really let 'er eat.

okay, so the saga continues. I dont wanna start a new thread and everyone that knows my story so far frequents this thread. Mainly, i just wanna bitch.

So i got my new cat today. stayed late to install it. all was good. the car was so quiet. I have to say i miss the noise. anyways, drove around a bit, eveything just peachy. Went to cruise with a friend tonight. got out to her house and for some reason, i decided to look under the car when i go there. Now it was out in the country so it was dark as hell. I could see the cat glowing red hot. I mean, i was giving it a bit on the highway before i got there. anyways, i decided maybe its just like that when they are new and you give it like that. So i went for a little drive, nice and easy. got back, still glowing. Now im wondering if the cat dying was an effect, and not a cause. Anyone near my car when i started it at the tire shop in niagara heard my air pump...maybe it bit the dust and the cat died because of that....sometimes i wish i had a rotary as my fun car, and not my daily driver....

I couldn't remember his problem...then why the hell change out the intake? That makes no sense to fix the problem. Then again our engines seem like computers...they don't make sense why they work a certain way at times, they just do lol. The Vfad doesn't STOP cold air coming in, but when stock intake isn't on with a proper seal etc., it will make a big difference on how much ambient air is coming in, but for this problem it's a mood point anyhow.

Dude what is that about! When I got mine replaced it smelled of course, kinda like my new exhaust did, but went away. I never did check it to see if it was glowing or anything tho. I do not recall hearing your air pump, so much commotion sorry man!

from what i've been told it could be an issue of the engine getting too much air between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm...... It really doesnt make any sense to me but we shall see

yeah, this is killing me. Im scared to drive the car now because im not sure if mazda will pay for another 2500 dollar cat under warranty for me in the same week if this one gets ruined. This sucks *****. I know im gonna start loosing sleep over this ****.

And the reason the dealer would want kevin to put his stock intake back in is because then they know for sure 100% its not some random problem caused by an aftermarket part. When you have a headscratcher problem like kevin has, you gotta cover all your bases you know. Its easy to say an intake cant cause said problem, but the thing with cars is you never really know. A problem like that could be one of a thousand different things, or worse, could be a few of a thousand different things. You've just gotta cross any little question that pops up off the list right away.

I cant wait for this mini meet so i can appreciate 8s again. im finding it hard to appreciate mine right now. Plus, i wanna see those CR Kais again. i heart them. lol.

Greg, that sucks about your car. Any idea what it is??? bad coils, something with the ecu dumping too much fuel in? plugs???? Has it even thrown a CEL??

Anyways see you there on Saturday, we can trade horror stories. (you still bringing the plugs?)
