Engine tick after cold start

Guys one of our brothers from the states (Des Moines, Ia) posted this question.

"ok guys i know its really not a lifter and all... just tryin to get some attention ... but when ever its cold and i start the 8 thats exactly what it sounds like... sounds like a lifter is ticking on a non rotary vehicle... it eventually goes away when the vehicle warms up .. like 5 or 10 min ... is this normal ? this is my first cold weather wiht the 8 so pardon my ignorance"

Anyone here in Canada experience such things?

I have not, but my 8 doesn't see too many winter days and is stored in a heated garage.

My 8 is a daily car. It's seeing winter as we speak. Yesterday at rush hour, massive traffic jam from Jane all the way to Bayview on HWY 7. Along the way, 3 car accidents, the roads were black ice all over. I was moving between 0 - 7km/h no more, all the way across.

Guess what, one of the accidents, involved a COROLLA LOL go figure... (back to my earlier rant on Corolla drivers).

It's an '07 model, I have the MS CAI, and it doesn't make that tinkling sound the way it was described. When cold, it makes a very light tinkling sound as if there was something pinging off the cold metal on the intake, but it's nothing serious at all.

It's normal, I believe it might be the metal expanding, or the cat doing it's thing...

LOL Darkbrew. Good stuff.

Mine ticks when I've fired it up the last few days at work. Did the surging revs for a few days (-17 and colder) for a few min, tick for a few min, and then stabilize like normal (or normal for me anyway..)
Mine's a daily driver too, while she sleeps in a garage at night, she is subject to a cold hard start at work and can make some interesting noises. Not surprising. Its cold out there..!
