Canadian Drivers Km/L
I just bought my RX8 and I LOVE it i just have two questions for those living here in Canada.
1. What kind of mileage are you guys getting, I only got 288km out of the first tank!!! That was shifting under 3750rpm and was 90% city 10% highway..... still breaking it in. I know its an old question but just a little curious about the canadian drivers, especailly here in Van where it doesn't get that cold.
2. For those living in Vancouver where is the best shop for body kits and aftermarket parts? Need a good reliable shop, that can get whatever i want:D
thx I love this forum:D

My last fill was 23.5 litres on 229 km - mainly highway driving, 4,000 ft altitude +/-, 4 degrees C, and I kept it to around 110 km/h as an average speed. Still breaking it in - previous fill (mainly city) was 22.5 litres and 160 km.
Cheers,

You want to use L/100 km. You can get a free slide calculator from the Fed. Govt. to calculate this. These are also distributed at gas stations, Mohawk for example and Petro Canada, as well as by Provincial govts. 14 L/100 km is about 25 mi./gal. imperial. 20 L/100 km is about 20 mi/gal imperial. I would expect most RX-8s to average between 12 and 15. Worse in city, worse in winter. Best on long highway cruise in summer.
<- That car got a best ever of 9.5 last summer on the Duffey Lake road, and I wasn't hanging around looking at scenery . It averages 10-12 on the highway at speeds around 120.

You may want to check your math - an Imperial Gallon is about 4.55 litres, and a mile is about 1.61 km.
Using those conversions, 14 l/100km is about 20.2 mpg, and 20 l/100km is only 14.1 MPG.
Cheers

Hum,
Just a little correction I think Friend... According to my calculator:
14 L/100km is approx 20 mi/gal Imp or 16.8 mi/gal US
20 L/100km is approx 14 mi/gal Imp or 11.8 mi/gal US
The more litres you burn in a given distance means less mileage you'll get on a gallon and it's even worse in the States where a gallon is smaller than what we were used to here!
I think you know that, but just mixed up your numbers
If you got 9.5 L/100km last summer, that seems pretty encouraging compared to what many have been reporting on here.
I finally got my 8 from the dealership seven days ago, but it will be hibernating for the rest of the winter, so it will be a while B4 I can actually find out how thirsty it is I'm getting so antsy that I'm starting to wonder about wheels and snow tires now instead of next fall. The other option would be to accelerate global warming but that's too costly! :p
Cheers!

Also you can use the simplified conversion formula to convert between L / 100Km and MPG. Take 234.7 and divide it by your L/100km to get the MPG and vice versa.

For places for body kits and stuff, which part of Van are you in? Im in Richmond, and I go to Boyzclub on Minoru st.
Anything they cant do, they can point you to one of many shops real close, and let you know which place is best as well.
And if you are after a stereo, they can do wonders.
Check out what they did to this RX-7 at boyzaudio.com
