It's hard to tell really.
We're picky when it comes to cars. I think my folks have learned a valuable lesson on buying an SUV. Definately not worth what they paid for. Consumption on fuel is astronomical. And this from a small SUV.
I'm trying to convince them in getting a car. If they absolutely need a vehicle with cargo space then a wagon.
They've been looking at the new X3 that just came out. But the bloody thing starts really expensive. And this is before you start adding options that come standard in other car makers.
At this point I have no clue what they're going to do. They might even surprise me and scrap the whole 2 car idea and just get 1. But I doubt that happening.
A more realistic approach would be getting another Mazda. All of us own or have owned Mazda's since 1988. So why stop a good thing. I'm slowly trying to convince them in getting a 6 in either hatch or wagon form.
Only time will tell. The Tribute isn't up till November. Hopefully by then they would have their mind set on something.

motortrend of car and driver had a horrible review of the X3. The ride was rough as hell that you're better off with a sedan and the cargo room isn't much bigger either. And the fit and finish wasn't good in their test car (rattles) and the dash and buttons were very plasticky. not at all a typical bmw
were you looking for something 4 wheel drive in addition to your 8?

Rotary Titus,
Yep, I heard the X3 isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It must be because it's built in the US (I think in Alabama). And I wouldn't believe anything Motortrend writes. I prefer Road and Track.
I personally hate SUV's. I would never buy one. But I can't influence my folks. They've bought into the whole "high seat driving" thing. Big mistake.... What are you going to do...
The 8 is the only car we don't have right now. A friend of mine picked one up recently.
They're nice. If I had to get a car that seated 4 and needed the sports car thing... sure I would get one...
But I'm very happy with my FD.

Just got back from the Autoshow, it was great. With Mazda winning every award except Best Truck, the Mazda display was a beehive of activity. It was hard to get close to the RX8s, there was always a crowd around them. They had every colour (except silver) there, neat to see them all together.
