Question Air intake

Hi guy's, how many times is necessary to install a new air intake (typhoon) by K&N. (if the job is executed by a no-specialist like me)

Your comments about this minor upgrade are welcome.

p.s. sorry for my poor english; i speak french only.

I am only clarifying what I think you meant not commenting on the work itself because I don't know.

You are asking: How long does it take to install one of these considering I am not very handy at these things.

I think...

Not many times....

..about ten minutes for me, I put it on/take it off regularly.
Maybe twenty minutes including the heat shield.

Do you own one yet? If not, well there are more options that are better.

The last time I checked, they were not available and I haven't received an e-mail from RB yet (I'm on their mailing list). Who has them and how much?

I have the typhoon K& N Installed in 30 minutes, and believe me I am not a mechanic either !! Just follow the instructions (very easy)
I just love the noice from it, ask all the RX8 owners that's know me, they all love the sweet sound coming from it, Helas, Sham, Mic ...etc :D
I don't believe what people are saying about being bad for the engine, I had it installed when my RX8 was brand new and now I have 33000 km on it and still kick some *** ...and take my words for it, I do drive it hard all the time, it's the car that keep asking me to drive it so hard... nothing I can't do about it... :D and YES I AM FRENCH TOO...si tu veux m'envoyer un message ...On peux s'ecrire en francais

Sa-Weet!! I'd love to get one!! I'm waiting to see what happens with the CAI they are looking to release this summer. I think it's going to be an add-on to the REVi but not sure, do you know if it's an addon or a totally different setup? I'm pretty sure it will be an add-on, many people will get pissed if it isn't and I can't see Racing Beat doing that.

Ya it sounds pretty cool for sure. But Helas claims that its certainly not faster this his car because he beat you not once, but twice!!! I'm just kidding Danielson.

Honestly, it sounded great and I don't think there is a guy alive who can master the handling of the 8 as well as you can. You are a pro indeed. It just seem that others have had bad luck with the Typhoon and then K & N discontinued it offering a refund for who ever bought one.

It does make a little diffference but not that much...I need to practice to shift in second gear, because twice it was my problem !!!
If you ask Helas, my RX8 was ahead on the start...Anyway, for the refund by K&N, It's just to show how nice they are about it, if you are not completely satisfied with theirs product for any reason, they will give back your money...that's my friend "IT'S A GOOD SERVICE !"

Dan, you are a good sport and I respect you for that.

However Helas insists that he knew from the beginning that he could easily take you so he decided to give you a head start, twice. :D

I really hope we will see you on the 24th!

They stated on their site, that it's only for the manual trans. cars. After they complete this one, they will try and get an auto car and evaluate the intake on it. So I assume, won't be long before they get one for your auto

Not entirely true. I've had mine for over a year 100% problem free.

Talking about intakes, my wife asked me what I want for my birthday and I said (not thinking she would bite) "How about the new Racing Beat REVi Intake", Expecting a "Are you nuts, I'm not wasting money on that!" I got a "Where the hell am I supposed to get one of those?!"...I was like this then said "Don't worry, I'll take care of everything" and my wife said "Ok."

Go figure, here I've been thinking how am I going to buy one of these without my wife freaking out about it and now I'm getting one. :D

Since my birthday is in May I told her we should order it now so that it arrives early and I only have to remove my bumber once for both the intake and the RB Cooler and Rad protectors I have. I got a funny look but it might happen.

Hellbreed, you are a lucky bastard indeed. My wife would ask "don't you already have one of those thingies on your car already?"

Good luck and order it soon!!! I think its the best one out there.

I did it! I ordered my REVi intake, I was able to get one before the delay for the next run of parts, it's going to ship Tuesday. Due to my UPS experience with the Racing Beat screens I asked if I can get an alternate courier. They set me up with United States Parcel Service Air, they said from their experience there is no brokerage fee or duty coming into Canada this way, guess we'll see. Deliver should take 6-10 days so I won't be able to install it before the 24th meet to show you guys, too bad. I asked them if they could throw in a Racing Beat T-Shirt but they said they couldn't, but he did throw in a couple of Racing Beat license plate covers which will replace my dealer covers nicely.
