I think you got my query wrong 'Mez.
Wasn't so much thinking about the percentage of yellows sold to other colours (although that's interesting, thanks ).
Was wondering what the ratio is of manual to auto in the other colours. E.G. is there a higher percentage of manuals over autos in titanium compared to yellow or red, etc.
I'm betting that there's more autos in that greeny colour!!! :p :D
Don't suppose the stats are available to the public....

Sorry mate, I wasn't responding to your query, I was replying to Michaels post about the limited number of yellow 8's sold.
Regarding the manual/auto ratio, Michael has indicated the yellow cars run at 81% manuals. As the hoon element of RX-8 buyer is likely to buy red, black, or blue (colours that appeal highly to a younger demographic), I'd say that these colours would match or exceed that percentage. Maybe someone could fire off an email to MA to get the definitive answer.
Gomez.

I agree with your analysis. Might fire off that email on Monday if I think of it. If I get an answer I'll post here.
Frankly, I don't understand the attraction of the auto at all in this car. I mean quite apart from the loss of gear selection control, there is a marked power decrease over the manual. Not dissing those who opted for the auto but I'd love to know why they did? Not trying to stir up trouble here - I'm genuinely mystified why you would buy one.

I might see if Mazda can bring one to the Nats... (sits back and reflects on the fact he can't make a post these days without a reference to "the Nats"!)

From the all-inclusive RX8 recall notice(Dated 27/7/05) there were around 3370 units sold in Aus to end June '05 (24/4/03 - 1/7/05) - I guess that is one way to get the "official" stats
VIN range JM0FE103100100007 to JM0FE103100103562, so the numbers don't add-up but I guess that there are a few MA cars and dealer units, as well as some 'write-offs'
Cheers,
Tonym

...and let's face it, after the test drive any negative aspects tend to shrink a little.

Finally got a full tank of fuel into my car.
Drove like a turtle for ALL 400KM's then light came on. City driving only.
I'd assume 13.5-15L per 100KM. Anyone get better figures when driving like a saint?
