WTB: RX-8 auto

G'day from DMRH

Wanted: JDM "Type-E" RX-8

6-speed auto version.

If anyone knows of any 6-speed versions here in Oz I would like to buy it...

I know it will be hard to find but not impossible as I have seen multiple RX-8's come into Oz via private import (getting around the Mazda Oz rip off pricing) & am hoping at least 1 of them is a 6-speed auto thats for sale.

Having said that, am still off to check out a (Oz spec 4-SP) blue 03 model model this wekeend. Asking $33k with 48,000km on it so my options are always open.

6 Speed is ok. They have the 6 pot engine much similar to ours. Rated 210ps in Japan.

Why but more importantly how is private import of a new car cheaper than buying it here.

I ask because I want a Jap Spec Civic Type R and thought that it will be very expensive if I import that.

What makes the Jap Spec Type R better?

Isnt it just the ECU thats different?

She has tried guys.

Crunching gearboxes. Slipping clutches, smoking tyres on take off. Over reving before changing, under reving before changing.

It all got too much for her & quite frankly, I am happy to compromise with an Auto because I can't bear to watch her punish a car like that. It gets too damned expensive.

Getting back on subject...................Any one know any importers with a "personally imported" JDM RX-8 ......??

I doubt you will find one. If you have a read of this site http://www.japanperformancedirect.com.au/ you will find out why. Give them a call and they will be happy to explain your options.

Cheers
