I am still going through all the pictures! 1866 of them. Most of them are 10X better of what we had from the Nats.

:worhsip: Peter Kotsa.

Hey I just send disc to all of you besides atridge and xatnep. Guys give me your address and I can send them to you. I have a surprise in each envelope too.

Once you have one - put up your favourite photo! (just one).

Hey how is everyone's brake and gear?

My brake is ok although my pad is down to 40-50% and the rotor chew up somewhat - but I still feel good. But looks ugly, the caliper pain (which is rated 900F) is burnt

Gear oil changed last July is burnt as look as black as ink! Lucky I felt like changing at the time. No big filing though :fingersx

I am booked in for a brake check next week where I told them to expect the worst as they are feeling quite spongy. Gearbox is feeling pretty cluncky too so might ask them to change that. Reckon its worth it? 10,000Ks and 2 track days (you know now how much I drive on the track). Other than that, I think I will be changing all 4 tyres in around 5000k as the fron left is knackered and the rest aren't that far behind.

As for that photo, knowing how she LOVES to drive really fast around the track (NOT!) I am just wopndering where the other hand is!

I am just uploading an animated gif of _THAT_ incident, but its goingto be 56mb.

BTW, Peter Kosta, they are some magnificent photos. My hat goes off to you mate.

That spongy feeling is probably caused by your brake fluid overheating. As it reaches it's boiling point you get oxygen released into your fluid. Give the brakes a good bleed and you will find your peddle will come back. Also change your brake fluid too. Get a high temp 'Dot 4' fluid. The fluid I use is Ate Super Blue Racing which seems pretty good. I have some pretty burned front rotors yet still have a pretty good peddle feel so the Ate fluid worked alright... Now just to do something about those front rotors

Agree with Stu.

Brake fluid is the guilty party for most cases and you better bleed it first. There may be bubbles in the line that created as you drive (100 laps mind you )

I will change just get some local brake fluid (the Motul RBF 600) that you can buy from Autobarn - you do want to keep some to top up as required.

I never give expensive oil for Mazda to change, as I know they have stock for stock oil and the mechanics could have (although may not have) swap your expensive oil to a cheaper bland.

I have to say Andrew... Very nicely done. Look closely at the pictures and you see the nice amount of rubber you leave on the track while exiting the circuit. 10 out of 10 mate!

Excellent work Andrew.

BTW, also a good demo of how getting straight on the brakes can save you from something worse while trying to 'catch' it.

Winton Lap times - congrats Glenn

Since I think everything has sorted I guess it is time to publish the times.

http://alwstudios.net/rx8club/taka/best_laps.jpg

Congrats Glenn for the best time: 1.43.3 on slicks. Mate you are the one I look up to and I already recruited him for the nats. Watch out NSW boys.

Funny I wonder wat was the story behind the missing MX-5 lap times?????? Would it be too slow to get registered ???

Please not with those lap times that it was only in the 2nd half of the day as timing transponders were not available for the 1st half.

As for my "off" I have to say a big thank you to Kevin for the lessons on the skid pan. it gives you a totally different outlook to how to deal with these incidents. I was well aware of the fact that I was loosing it and was consantly assessing what I was doing and where I was going. At one stage I was actually heading for the service road but decided that I had ample space to actually stop. I think without these lessons I would have just locked the brakes and spun, spun, spun.

I am thinking I will be going on the next sandown day to try and get some time with one of the instructors, because looking at all the photos, my lines are far from perfect and I could do with some improvement.

Well done to everyone, they were some pretty awesome times all around.

Hmmm...I bet you're finding those tyres a bit noisy on the road now, Andrew. Nothing like a little sideways action to bring out the 'whoop-whoop'

Good results. Were the first three all on slicks or semis?

Glenn is on Dunlop D02J Slicks in a 17", otherwise stock and have 15 years of Winton racing under his belt

I am on Bridgestone RE55S.

Stephen (whtdc2) is driving a Jap Spec DC5 Honda Integra with Mugen suspension and Bridgestone RE55s slicks.

xatnep is the fastest in stock cars. Good old Gary is a quick one alright

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=165438

Some reference time from the S2Ki forum. You see S2K has big advantage in flowing corners....

(whtdc2 should consider putting his time there under Winton Raceway )

Stu should have timed himself - he would have been the fastest NC by default

Actually Taka, I was running 4 year old Dunlop D01J semis that I'd dug out of the shed last Friday I think the D02J's are a little bit quicker again.

Did not have too, Danielle stood on the fence and timed a few laps I asked her to around noon.

Did not bother with the transponder because by the time they had come I had backed off on my effort. I felt it was getting a little too warm out on the track and after my string of car failures on track the last 4 times I decided to have a car to drive home in. Was a little surprised at just how hard some pushed their cars in the afternoon heat.

And just for Taka so he can bag me some more for my 'Not quite Stig speed' I'll let you all know what Danielle timed. Probably in the slower half of the field but alright I reckon for a little tub with 118kw at the flywheel

According to her in the afternoon I was running around in high 1.50's to low 1.52's. My best results were around noon when I was chasing down Tim's RX8 with his mate driving (I gained close to a 1/4 of a lap on him in 6 laps while he was determined not to let me... Was so much fun). Here I was running low 1.48's to high 1.48's. Timed by hand so there will be a small margin of error but close enough for me.

OK Taka insert laugh here ___________________.

So another 5.5 seconds to improve still so I can do a glenn and beat the Stig.

I am presently taking donations to aid in this effort so everyone be generous and donate large slabs of cash!

Stu's car is much quicker than the 1st generation though. More torque and better suspension is very noticable from a NB to his NC...

Of course...but that's near stock. Think of the fun you can have modding a 1gen, that's not a daily drive

For $30,000 more in value it'd want to be better.

You're not getting it Taka - I don't want to spend $40-50K on a track car. I may as well track the 8. The whole idea is to get something fun that I'm not gonna cry about if it gets the odd ding or scratch or even, at worst, gets written off.

You're all having fun now - what happens if you have a big off and hit something?
