Who's in for a Chch RX8 day trip?
Alrighty boys and girls, it's been asked for by several local Chch members so here it is, a day trip out to Akaroa. I'm going to set the date for Saturday 1 December. At the moment I'm thinking the plan goes something as follows...
10:45am, we all meet at a central location, possibly along Moorhouse Ave.
11:00am, we leave and drive to the second location, the dairy at Little River, for a drink or snack and a bit of a rest, also a good point to get to know everyone on the trip a bit better.
11:30am-12, we can be as flexible as we want from here and head over the hill to Akaroa for lunch. Depending on what everyone decides I can book a restaurant but I'll need firm #'s if I'm going to do this.
Leaving time is pretty much upto everyone on the day and you can choose your own route back to Chch. I recommend Gebbies pass Rd and through the Lyttelton tunnel.
I'm open to suggestions as this is my first time organising something like this. Also if members can help get the word out and attract as many RX8's as possible it'd help make it an awesome day.
I'm going to make up some kind of flyer in the next few days and I'll wander down to Al Marsh and drop some off for any RX8 customers he has in the near future.

Hey all
I've drawn up a flyer and (depending on feedback) will drop some copies to Al Marsh later this week. Let me know any changes you think should be made and if anyone would like a few to hand out to other RX8 owners they meet. Also if there are any ideas on how to get a few more 8's to come along I'm all ears.

No one else (apart from 1 FC RX7) showed up.
Waited till 11:30 and still no sign of anyone who said they were keen.
Felt a bit **** that noone from here bothered to come along so I went home without heading to Akaroa.

Thats sad to hear that nearly no one turned up.
Still that should give you more incentive to work harder for the next event.
When we were running MREC drag events years ago, we use to go down to Queen street on Friday nights and give out flyers avertising our up coming Drag event. This was quit a bit of work to do and sometimes hardly anybody would turn up, and yet the next time we did the same thing, hundreds of people would turn up. Sometimes you just don't know how it will go.
All I can say is keep on trying, and for those who said they were keen and didn't bother turning up, you bunch of slackers. Not pointing at anyone Slidin8
Anyway don't give up, give it another go and you might be surprised.

Slidin8 has been very ill lately
Don't point at him
I did apologize to Bremma last night, I do feel guilty as I should have contacted him at the time. It was the last thing I thought of while my head was in a bucket.
I wish to extend an offer for a meet up and an all out attack on Summit Road and then on to Akaroa

No problem Slidin8, just thought I would give you a poke.
Sometimes its better when you have more then one person to help organise an event. Then you can run ideas off each other, and one person doesn't have to do all the work.
As I said, don't give up, choose another day and get things going, but you might want to wait now until around Feb or March of next year. That will give you plenty of time to organise things and get the info out to anyone.
Have fun
