Now you just know you can resist EVERYTHING but Temptation

(Hi Takahashi! You've bought tons of parts from us; Koji, Ken and Japanparts Crew say "How's it goin', Mate?" )

must resist

When I am ready you will hear from me mate. You guys have chased down a lot of stuff for me - I normally point to my RevSpeed or RX-7 magazine and Koji can send it to me.....

I will do more research... (note to self: buy flower to Mrs)

Sorry - been offline for a couple of days!

Yes I did install it myself. It wasn't too difficult - the side skirts are the most awkward bit (to get them to align and stick tightly along the sills).

Would you cry if I told you I could get a replica that fitted just as well as the original -painting for about 1150 aus?

As auzoom had, it is more of a gamble. If it fits perfectly without paint cracking few weeks after install - great. If it does, it will cost you more time and effort than import the original in.

I have talked to a Japanese person though, he said that even MazdaSpeed geniune does not fit sometimes.

Yep the genuine MS kit is not an easy fit. I'd like to re-fit my side skirts because the factory fastenings are pretty hard to get right. The nose was perfect though - and the rear diffuser was relatively easy but not a totally perfect fit. Mind you I'm probably the only one that notices... and the paint match is perfect all around but then lightning yellow's probably an easy match anyway (no pearl).

The important thing though is that the MS kit is made from the same material as the stock bumper, and thus it's more pliable - whereas aftermarket ones are made from more brittle stuff in general, which is why they're more prone to cracks etc. I can't remember the materials' names, but search this forum and the answers are there...

So, xcesive, no cry. You did good!

Cheers

Cheers Yellowrx8inoz,

As for Drewman, im sure your kit looks great, good on ya. But when it comes down to it, i would prefer the material used in the OEM kit + I have no need to have my car taken away from me for days whilst they fit and spray a fake kit. Also no worries as to choosing a spray painter i trust to do the job right.
So to answer your Question... NO i wouldnt cry lol

I agree with you completely ... why get a fallapart replica when you have something that looks better, is better quality and doesn't fall off or look cheap already?

My question is: if you're gonna tack up a car, why not get a 200SX or something?

If you want to do up the car though, why not do it properly?

Unless of course you're trading it in the next two years ... which then raises the question, why are you modding your car?

And if you are keeping your car and are modding it, why are you doing it on the cheap?

The wing has to be bolted on because its fairly large compared to the other trunk lip liners.

Not to mention all the air resistance that it has to put up with!

You dont want the thing to fall off when youre on the highway do you???

The MS wing bolts on through holes in the bootlid that are in the same position as the Mazda factory spoiler, plus a lot of double-sided tape to stick the lower lip onto the bootlid edge. I found though that my factory spoiler had been inaccurately fitted (by the dealer) so I had to ream out the holes to get the MS wing positioned right. You'd get a better result fitting the MS wing to a virgin bootlid if you have one....
