Wheels Yearbook 2004

just went past the newagency and saw a new Wheels Yearbook 2004 that had comparison of RX-8 and 350Z.
didn't have the time to read the review in depth.. anybody have read it yet? apparently they boths got 4 1/2 stars which is quite good.

The review is basically the same one as a few months ago (Sept or August issue) with some extra depreciation information tacked on.

The RX8 has a better retained value than the 350Z (by 4% or so) and gets the slightly better review - even though both cars get 4.5/5.

yeah, it's good to see that RX-8 looks to retain higher value on resale. I wonder how they have derived to the calculations though, as it's fairly a new car.. maybe based on the used car sales atm which must be quite low?

Specs are roughly the same but this is 1 thing i like over the Z.

"4 seats"
and because i use it for business, 2 seats would be good for the garage.

Nissan reduced the 350z price soon after the RX-8 hit the road, which would have affected resale prices, I think

I know of one RX-8 4A driver who traded in (or intended to) on a 6M. So I guess there have been a few sales already.

I recall when the monaro's came out, someone pre-ordered bought about 6 of them and, then then when he got them sold them for more than retail, as there was a massive waiting list. Nice tidy profit from those who couldn't wait.

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - From what I have read, I think I would like the RX-8 better than the 35 ounce. But I am biased

Cheers,
Hymee.

Well before I got the RX-8 and I went to a Nissan dealer ... they cut the price of the brand new track version 350Z to $66K!

Lucky I did not suck in to the deal

Car UK magazine had a giant test in Feb edition. 8 v 350Z v Audi TT v CrossFire. Probably now available in on-line edition. 350Z won by a short-head from 8. TT 3rd and Crossfire a disaster.
Rationale was that 350Z was more fun and driveable at everyday sppeds given a normal mix of driving whilst the 8 needed high revs, open roads etc.

Cheers

That is just wrong. The 350Z has to be wrestled with at everyday speeds. Speaking of the Crossfire, there is an AMG version coming out with some serious power behind it

What do you mean with wrestled with? I thought the 'Z has more torque so you don't have to shift that often at everyday speeds.

It is heavier to steer, you are wrestling with the steering wheel.

When i took the 350z for a spin around the same roads i took the 8 for a test drive, the Nissian felt as if i was driving a truck with no power steering.
