I am new to the whole supercharger vs turbo thing, but does the supercharger make any noise when you switch gears? Someone said it doesnt PSSSST when you switch gears like a turbo. but does it do something similiar to it? Just wondering guys.

This is getting a little recursive

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...8&postcount=23

There are different noises. There varying levels of blower whine with a screw, when you are on boost. At WOT / max boost, you get a more whine. When you are off boost, you don't get any. When you are on a bit of boost, you get a bit of whine.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Come on guys nothing beats the sound of a high horsepowered turbo, when thyey've got the most awsome blow off valve going off its head. Not trying to knock superchargers or anything.

It's each to his own of course, but I really don't like BOV puffs and hisses -- a bit 'steam era' to me. I'd much rather the uninterrupted grumble/roar/below/scream of a highly tuned NA engine -- BMW M3, a well-developed LS1, any Ferrari V12...and Ducati motor bikes :o

Have to agree with the exception of the LS1 (which I find lacks character).

At the other end of the scale, a worked 351 Cleveland being used in anger is also a great sound.

Okay, if we just go back to turbo v supercharger I still believe most supercharged motors sound better than turbos. Just a gruntier sound for me.

But hey, vive la difference. Would be dead boring if we all liked the same thing.

Nothing beats the sound of blower whine boys. Causes grins everytime. Not that I'm biased or anything.

I like both. Have more experience with Turbo's though so that is why this time I want to try the Supercharger. I want to hear that blower whine :D

Turbo cars are (at the moment)obviosly more popular than blown right?so i guess there arn't many cars that are blown, and i have to admit i havent heard a lot of blown cars anyway,so you guys might have a point with what you sayi.i guess i am not totally convinced then(about turbos sounding better)maybe i just havn't come across one that i like yet(blown car).and when i do i might just sit on the fence at the moment.
