Stolen Service Book
Can anyone speculate what the use of a stolen service book might be? I just picked my car up from service, and it appears that the service book was missing. I was wondering whether this might be connected with a break-in at our place recently. When we were burgled, my car was unlocked in the garage. The burglars had opened the passenger side door and the seat was laid back, but that was all (as far as the car was concerned).
Would a service book be any use to someone, perhaps in a car re-birthing racket? If that is possibly the case, you might be careful if someone offers you a car supposedly from Queensland with all services complete to 60,000km.

I assume you checked with the service centre that they didn't forget to put it back!
Does the service book contain info that could be used to make keys/remote to some time later knock off the car if seen parked somewhere?

The dealer claims that to prevent loss, all service books are stamped in the car.
I noted that when I filled in the data on the replacement book, there is a space for the key number. Whether this provides sufficient information to be able to program a key, I don't know.

Then they should have a record of when you serviced your car.
I dont see why they shouldnt issue you a new one!
its one of the selling points when you sell the car (if ever)
